Mayhew and Lewand Fired - Mayhew signs with Giants

Maybe Caldwell is an evil genius, he managed to convince Martha that everyone else was to blame in order to save his own ass.

Maybe the Media doesn't have the whole story yet too. From ESPN... Lions meeting with Caldwell today too. Could be he just hasn't been fired yet. Could be he gets to stay until there is a new GM. Could be he's the new GM.

Hard to say when reports are that Martha is personally going office to office to tell people whether or not they still have a job.

I can't say I am excited. My company is in the process of reducing staff or looking at options to do so, including outsourcing IT.

I kind of understand how the guy at the end of the hall feels, wondering if I still have a job tomorrow.

To be honest, terrible team or not, I sympathize with the people losing their jobs.

I think this might be what Martha is doing in the offices...

Even people that don't do anything to deserve their jobs, or do their jobs poorly?

I don't know, I look at pro sports figures differently than your average joe. I might feel bad for some of the lower end guys in the organization, but it's not like Mayhew and Lewand are going to become unemployed bums after this. Their next jobs may not be as glamorous, but they have plenty of opportunities and they'll still be well off. It's nice to see at least a little bit of accountability for failure.

I'm probably going to get some heat for this, but this is my guy, or somebody with a similar view on what is wrong with the Lions as an organization, and it's players. The interview/podcast was almost moving for me, lol. He shreds the Lions, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I would like to see Will McClay from Dallas as the next GM. He is the one who built the Cowboys and they are loaded with talent.

The future beyond 2015 for #Lions QB Matthew Stafford is very much in doubt, as I understand it.

I honestly think he's got no less than 1 more year. Their options right now are moving Stafford this offseason and rolling with a rookie, or drafting a qb and letting him sit behind him for a year and trying to get the offensive line fixed before throwing the new guy out there. Get this line fixed first, imo. If they can do it in FA, and this year, I guess Stafford is gone. Which is OK (not great) by me
