Mayhew and Lewand Fired - Mayhew signs with Giants

Apparently Bill Ford Jr is out too? Just heard it on the radio, god damn.

If true then I'm of the opinion she is cleaning house to sell the team barebones for new owners to have clean slate.

Martha has earned a ton of respect from me. She's been the decision maker for a little over a year now and she is taking no crap. I like it. If old man willy was still alive nothing would be different now. Unconventional....yes it is. But maybe we can get some actual talent in this organization and win some damn games. In five years we will either look back on this day favorably or as another dumb move by a dumb franchise.

I don't think he's really had much of a role. The Ford's are always so hands-off. That's what the GMs and coaches loved about the organization. They would get hired and never hear from the people above them.

I guess it's just hearsay because it's pretty hard to have a solid 'source' but I was under the impression that Jr was very much the reason Millen was chosen.

The only things I've heard regarding Jr and this team was that he suggested hiring Millen and eventually spoke out about firing Millen.

But the hands off thing is correct, we can only speculate because few know how the organization is actually run. I always got the impression that it was WCF's play toy and it was mostly left on autopilot.

Maybe they are looking to sell but i doubt it. I had heard the owner of the cavs might be interested and he's a native so he would want them to start in Detroit but he's kinda crazy.

Yeah, it was just well-known information among the people in the organization and the people on the beat. The GMs and coaches would never hear from the Fords, and that's why it was so impossible for anyone to get fired. The family is typically incredibly loyal.

Gilbert isn't shy about throwing money around but then again that was never the Ford's problem.

Don't believe you can own an NFL team and a team from another sport.

Apparently this is the rule:

The NFL goes even further, saying you can't own another sports team unless the team was in the same city OR in another city with no existing nfl team

Don't believe you can own an NFL team and a team from another sport.

Team owners are now allowed to own teams in multiple major sporting leagues, but those teams need to be in the same city (unless there is no NFL team in the other city). Buffalo native Jeremy Jacobs owns the Boston Bruins, but would have to sell that team in order to become the majority owner of the Bills. Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen can also own the Portland Trailblazers because Portland doesn't have an NFL market.

Well I asked for it in 2012 and just got my wish in 2015. If we had cleaned house along with Gym Shorts we wouldn't be in this mess. Clear out the stink, all of it from the coaches up, don't promote from within and hire someone young and data driven as GM. Keep Stafford (at least one year) draft Tunsil and bring in a head coach like Todd Haley from the Steelers. CJ should have been traded before the deadline and whether or not he is still with the team will depend on how well we can reload with FAs in one year.

Ink I have no sympathy for anyone that puts this product together. Although I don't revel in the firing of the bottom guy on the totem pole you or I or anyone deserves to lose their job running an organization from top to bottom into the ground. Even from a business standpoint I think we are the NFL organization that loses the most money. I say good riddance.

Edit: Thanks Grandy! I vote Caldwell!

No sympathy for doing lousy job from a guy making 20-40 times more I do.

I wouldn't want Gilbert to own the team anyway. He showed his ass to the world when LeBron left. He mended the fence but that was more LeBron wanting to go home than anything to do with him. If Martha makes the right moves this team could produce wins next season. Playoff contender probably not but i still think this team has some pieces that are being horribly mismanaged at the moment. A couple FA's and a decent draft. Get rid of some dead weight and let's get ready to ball. This isn't the 0-16 team. This team has proven talent but the management and coaching was bad. Keep Stafford one more year see whats out there as far as drafting a qb or reloading along the lines.

Due to popular demand...
Think it's the more probable of the selection. Stafford will be here probably one more year. Mayhew and lewand saddled this organization with way to many big contacts for guys who aren't performing. To be fair Stafford had a big year to get the deal but still. Money was managed poorly and we couldn't bring anyone in.
