Michigan Men's Basketball Recruiting

how would jaylen brown compare (ranking wise) with some of JB's other recruits? would he be the highest ranked guy JB has landed?

Do we have another option if Brown goes elsewhere. I hate guys like this holding things up.. Makes me think he is more of a me guy then a team guy.

He is the absolute opposite of a me guy. He has played his recruiting close to the vest and kept it among himself and his family only. He rarely speaks about being recruited to the public. He is not one of these kids dragging out his recruiting for attention. He avoids the attention as much as he possibly can.

He's coming to Michigan.

Could you imagine a lineup of Walton, LeVert, Brown, Irvin, and Doyle, and the depth on the bench?? (Dawkins, MAAR, Spike, Robinson, Chatman). They'd be a force.

It has Final Four written all over it.

only if MSU isnt also in our bracket. remember: that program is still light years ahead of ours.

so if our program is unable to move at the speed of light or close to it, it could take JB centuries before he catches up to Izzo.

We can only hope that JB is immortal so he has enough time to catch the program up to MSU's.

Well, Brown is the top or 2nd ranked player in the country. I know McGary was #2 at one time, but I think by the end of his career he was much lower. So yeah, Brown would be his highest rated player.

Bob, would you say the same about LeVert? He waited till basically the end to decide. Would you say he's more of a "me" guy?

I wanted Levert to go pro.. His twig will never be the same. I sure hope I am wrong!!!!.
I think it is a tad different.. NBA over college? Also different deadlines . My only thought is way can't Brown and some others announce when everyone else does? I guess I do not understand why some wait and others do not?

Well, for one, when they wait, they get to see what the final rosters will look like. Remember that Brown is still in school right now and his top 5 is full of really good basketball schools. It's not like his choices are Michigan, CMU, or Bowling Green. It's not an easy decision. He's probably thinking "Who is the best coach? What will my role be? Do I like the players? Can I see myself living there for the next year or two before I go pro? Which school could actually give me the best education?"

Some players go all in on schools much earlier. I'd prefer he took his time and really put some thought in. It means he actually cares.

Besides, I'm sure Beilein knows roughly where he's at with Brown. Even if we miss out on Brown and WIlliams, we have a nice team for next year and an open scholarship.

Don't forget DJ Wlson. I expect he'll have gained some weight this offseason and improved his skills. He was a 4* kid and i believe all of last year's freshmen will be in AA this summer, getting better.

This is going to be a deep team with a ton of talent. We'll have at least two, maybe three bench guys who could start for almost every B1G team. Add Brown to that and expectations go way up.

Regarding Brown, you also have to consider what is actually going on here. If he's worried about how his decision is impacting the scholarship situation for his prospective schools then he's an idiot. There has never been a more appropriate moment to make something all about "me". Sure he might be a one and done who just uses the school to leapfrog into the NBA, but if he has any kind of a head on his shoulders he'll consider that things may not work out that way and he may be picking the degree he could possibly obtain and where he will spend the next four years of his life. Why should he base that decision on other people's timelines and not be as deliberate as possible, as long as that delay doesn't impact his options?

You had me all excited about this kid last year and I cannot wait to see if he has recovered and will help us on the boards.. Kid seemed to have a great motor for hoops from the little we saw of him..

Brian Snow (national writer) told Det News Kentucky and Michigan are the frontrunners.

Hes leaning towards AA and his "crystal ball" has been favoring Michigan for a few months now. Even if you get 1 year out of him he should account for 5 extra wins.
