He's still a FA isnt he? why not bring him in, if healthy to be the LF?

absolutely fucking not. ALL he has is power. he cant hit for avg, his OBP isnt good, he strikes out a fair amount, he cant hit outside of that bandbox in texas, he's shit on the bases, and shit in the field (since 2010 at least, on both). AND he would cost us a draft pick because he turned down a qualifying offer. not only that, but he's been injured a lot the last number of years (outside of 2012) and has the biogenesis suspension baggage that comes with him.

the tigers should run as far as they can in the opposite direction from cruz.

I agree, absolutely not, they already let one busted ped guy go, why would they then just turn around and bring in other? ain't going to happen nor should it.

PEDs are the reason why he was injured. Oft. ignored side effect of them. People think that PEDs are superhuman, when they actually break down a body.

i thought peds help injuries though? particularly Steroids, which i believe are perscribed when ppl are rehabing

That's not what I've read and observed. Cortico-steroids have anti-inflammatory properties. Anabolic steroids just rip your body to shreds in exchange for enhanced strength.

This. completely.

then why are they perscribed by doctors?

There are so many different types of steroids.

Just about everyone that takes medicine for high cholesterol would be included. Statins are a type of steroid. And by no means does statins enhance anyone's ability to hit a baseball.

No on Cruz. IDK what his home/away splits look like over the last two years, but I bet his power numbers have been significantly boosted by Texas' bandbox stadium. Not a good defender, not good for average or OBP, not good on the base paths... all he brings is power and that is suspect. Not to mention the PED stuff.

Looks like "no" is pretty much unanimous.

~cue that one guy that has to argue just for the sake of arguing~

I would think signing Cruz would pretty much be the kiss of death for getting Scherzer locked up. The last thing this teams needs is another DH type. I see nothing wrong with batting the healthy VMART behind Miggy. People tend to forget how good a hitter VMart is.

I hope they keep Hunter in the 2 hole as well. I am guessing but he has to be one of the best 2 hole hitters in the game as of late. Lead off Kinsler and drop AJ down to 6 and he will be much better. I would not be surprised if Jackson hits 20+ homers down in the lineup.

This team is better in my opinion.

Simple question who is the #5 hitter in the lineup?

Without a legitimate power bat left, you have to move Cabrera to 4th. Nobody else on the team can come close to being able to hit cleanup. So then you either hit VMart 5th, or 3rd. Depending on if they actually move Ajax from leadoff, which they may not. It could be: Ajax, Kinsler, Hunter, Cabrera, Vmart, Avila, Dirks/Davis, Castellanos, Iggy. With 6-7-8 depending on the splits.

Where does Don Kelly hit?

Personally, cleanup batting 4th doesn't mean a whole lot. Most will say do you want him up with two outs in the first or leadoff in the second..how many times does Miggy start a rally with two outs? Take into account he bats less throughout the season batting fourth, and the fact maybe one or both guys get on ahead of him in the first inning, the only inning this situation matters. I guess I don't understand why he has to bat fourth..

I guess you could say for his career he bats slightly better in the 4 hole, though his best is batting 8th. Though 2013, he smoked in the 3 hole. I don't see the advantage hitting 4 over 3..Either way I don't really care.

If you believe in computer simulations, then they would tell you that batting order does not matter and that you actually score more runs with your best hitter hitting first (more Plate Appearances over the course of the year).
