Nelson Cruz

It`s not that bad of a signing considering they already gave up thier first when they signed Ubaldo. He can play DH on that roster so he won`t be exposed in the field and should be able to hit over 20 homers in that park

wouldn't have bothered me, picking him up for 8 mill.might take some of the hurt from losing Prince and Jhonny.

Except Tigers would forfit a 1st round pick and do not have a position for him to play.

what if they relieved Avila a few games behind the plate with V-Mart. and DH him. there's always room for a bat in the lineup.

You`re still giving up a 1st round pick and paying 8 million dollars for a bench player.

Like I said it makes sense for Balt for 3 main reasons, and all of those count against detroit

1-Doesn`t cost them a 1st rounder

2-He can be in the Line up everyday at DH

3-In that ball park he has a chance to show off his power

Detroit would essentially give up for a first for a player they can`t play in the field and can`t DH him everyday. Then what he does best will be limiyed in a park like Detroit.

If they wanted a power bat for the bench they could have found a better cheaper fit in free agency

Will you please stop making sense! That's frowned upon here.

I remember that the year V-Mart was signed (2015) Cruz was also a free agent. The Tigers signed V-Mart to a 4 year $68M contract & the Mariners signed Cruz to a 4 year $57M contract.

2015-2017

V-Mart
.266/.327/.739 OPS 48 HR
away
.284/.349/.784 OPS

Cruz

.292/.368/.925 OPS 126 HR
away
.294/.371/.966 OPS

Tigers really made a mistake signing V-Mart. There is a long list of mistakes.
