Next GM and Head Coach

I agree that defense is a bigger need. No argument from me. But from a talent standpoint, at #7, we need as big an impact as possible.

Here's a list we will likely have for choices....

OFFENSE

Waddle
Devonta Smith
Ja'Marr Chase
Zach Wilson
Trey Lance

Defense

Patrick Surtain
Caleb Farley
Gregory Rousseau
Kwity Paye
Michah Parsons

The offensive players talent FAR OUTWEIGH the defensive players talent. Parsons is the exception.....i certainly wouldnt be unhappy with him. But Rousseau or Paye over Smith or Chase. Sorry. I wouldn't be ok with that. Did Paye even play this year?

Gotta take talent during a rebuild. Drafting for need is what you can do in the late teens and after.....we need TALENT!

That's why I'd trade back. We put enough pieces on offense over the years, even Calvin, and still can't win a lousy playoff game. We need to finally build the defense. Offense right now is middlish, making them better in-lieu of defense means we still win 5 games.

I know we say this every year but alot of teams may be trying to trade up to get a qb. #7 could actually be an important spot to grab the last of the top 4 QBs. Rivers just retired. Ben looked like he wanted to. Brees. Pats. You may need to resign Griffen and Okwara to do it but this defense can be fixed in 1 off season.

i want Parsons at 7....but theres a couple LBs id add to your list in Zaven Collins and Nick Bolton if we traded down. I also like Azeez Ojulari at DE/Edge.

Rd 2 will see a ton of safeties go. Whoever is left from Cisco, Holland, Ford or Moehrig you can grab. I like Cisco if he falls.

Don't like Campbell from Xs and Os but I like his leadership. We'll see who he brings in for coordinators. Time to prove me wrong here.

The hot DC hire (Schwartz/Patricia) or experienced HC/OC (Caldwell) didnt' work out either. Caldwell was the closest to working with 3 winning seasons in 4 years (2 playoffs)

We prove you wrong every year. Aaron Glenn isnt going to set the world on fire. It will come down to personnel changes....not X and Os.

You have never proven me wrong. You don't know why the Lions lose or win. and they have won several years. You just say they lose because that is what you say.

Injurie roulette every year. Ref mistake roulette every year. Past performance in flux both improvement and regression. We'll see what Campbell can do

And lol scheme is important. Proved you wrong there

Aaron Glenn doesnt have a scheme. Boom..i win.

He for sure does have a plan for a scheme and knows how to make very good DBs. Boom I won even harder

I was watching the Saints game last weekend. They were saying that the reason the Saints defense is so good is because their front 4 can get consistent pressure and stop the run without any safety help. That certainly won't work in Detroit. They have the worst front 7 in the entire league.

actually when he coached the browns secondary they got worse under Glenn. Also he failed miserably at developing a lot of their secondary draft picks. I can end this very simply. What defense is Aaron Glenn going to run? When you dont have an answer deep down youll know i won :D

Glenn knows it and Campbell knows it..all that matters. Nobody cares if idiot negative lions fan knows it or not

Glenn improves saints secondary big time

I like the Glenn hire. There will never be a sure thing. But it was a good hire imo.

1. We need to improve through FA before the Draft. FA will show us the remaining holes.
2. Assuming we actually get worse through FA, always possible, then these Draft options become more important.
3. Can only trade back in Draft if someone agrees to what you are shopping around.
4. Assuming no one wants to trade with Detroit (based on fact that none have in the past for their R1 pick), then the one I would like to see off this list is Surtain.

I am under the impression Okudah is a potential bust. If that happens to be reality, we need someone to replace him as #1 CB. On the other hand, if Okudah just had a rookie slump and will prove a solid #1 under new coaching, then Surtain is a solid #2. We can have 2 potential lock down CBs. After that, grab Interior 7 guys who can put pressure on QB in R2, R3, and R4 and later grab the best LBs you can get.

I'm counting on FA to fill in several of these gaps, but I expect a solid CB will not come. Give me 2 young lockdown CBs who can cover most WRs 1v1. Give me DL and LBs through FA, guys with proven ability to apply pressure from DL and LBs who can blitz or cover TEs.

Just the ramblings of an old man with no ability to control a thing, take it for what its worth.

Anyone know how much Campbell's contract is worth? They certainly didn't pay Patty much. Get what you pay for I guess.

This place has been kicked, it’s been battered, it’s been bruised and I can give you coach-speak all day long, ‘Hey, we’re gonna win this many games.’ None of that matters and you don’t want to hear it anyway. You’ve had enough of that s–t. Excuse my language. This team is going to take on the identity of this city. This city’s been down and it found a way to come up. It’s found a way to overcome adversity. . . . We’re gonna kick you in the teeth and when you punch us back, we’re going to smile at you. When you knock us down, we’re gonna get up and when we get up we’re going to bite a kneecap off.”

Dan Motherfucking Campbell. Let's fucking goooooooo

They are going to take on the identity of the city of Detroit...shitty? The Lions already have that identity.

So the Lions' will never give up but the entire POINT of the NFL is to WIN. Unless he knows something that we don't, or that we can't prove.

I am SO TIRED of the "Detroit lunch pail, hard working" crap. It's such a tired motto.
