Next Lions Coach

Now I am glad we didnt get Lovie Smith. He just named Rod Marinelli as his DC. Dear god I cant even imagine him back in Detroit.

There ya go, I knew there was something turning my stomach about the thought of smith getting the job, I think this must have been it

ill have nightmares of the Tampa 2 and after watching it work so well for Dallas this year I dont want my nightmares to be reality.

I didnt read this whole thread but I dont understand why so many brought up Cowher? He hasnt coached in around 10 years and it is a totally different NFL now than it once was. They have new rules and I dont think and old school coach will do well in the modern NFL. I also dont want Gruden and I think he loves MNF to much to leave. He has turned into more of a character on a TV show than a coach. We need an offensive guy who can work with the mass amount of talent on the team.

My top 3

1. Bill O'Brien He fits the bill perfect for what this team needs)
2. Ken Whisenhunt Took the Cards to the Super Bowl. He was able to rebuild Kurt Warners career. He also has worked with many good QB's and made them better
3. Lovie Smith I know Lovie doesnt fit what I said about offensive guys but he already has his OC and that is Tedford and he would be perfect for Staff. He has worked with many Young QB's in the pros and college and has helped develop them. The only thing I dont like about Lovie is if he wants the Tampa 2. I have seen enough of that crap.

Cowher has forgotten more football than any potential coach knows that the Lions plan on bringing in for an interview. Cowher is a brilliant football mind. Besides, Lewand is not going to hang his onion sack out there and fire the GM. That will take Ford Jr. to do that. If they hired Khan to GM, Cowher would come. Who ever steals Khan from the Steelers, gets Cowher.

Face it, we are getting another fart for a coach, just like always. There are only a four good ones and one's been hired in Houston and the other three have cushy TV gigs. Billick may be the only one you could pry away, he may be just not smart enough to come here with Mayhew as GM

Billick does so much of our games I think hes sick of seeing our team lol. He always sounds so pissed when he has to announce for us and then just bashes our lack of discipline the entire game lol....I don't think theres a chance and hell hed even take a phone call from mayhew.

Your probably right. Now that you say that, I do seem to recall the frequent sarcastic comments about our team. Ok I digress, not any elite coach is stupid enough to play for Mayhew.

Could you have imagined the outrage and uproar that would have happened had we hired Lovie and he brought back the Tampa 2 and Rod as DC.... There would have been rioting...

Leslie Frazier is the DC for Lovie. His OC blows chunks as usual.

I never understood HC hiring the same coordinators that were with them when they got fired in the first place. Maybe that's why Lovie hired Frazier instead of Rod.

Jay Gruden..... HE GONE. For sure looking like Whisenhunt is the no brainer. I personally don't mind Caldwell either...
