Next Lions Coach

A couple of sources are saying Sexy Rexy might remain Jets head coach.

Signs point to Rex Ryan returning as coach of the New York Jets, two sources said Saturday, although some hurdles remain.

Based on conversations he has had, one well-placed NFL executive said he believes Ryan will be back despite speculation that the coach would be fired after this season. Another well-connected source told ESPN that the atmosphere surrounding Ryan's status has turned from negative to positive

This organization is a fucking joke

"League sources said Lions ownership is ?on the fence? about HC Jim Schwartz?s job status but it is ?leaning towards keeping him.?"

I hope they're just feeding him bullshit

I posted this somewhere else....

just watching NFL gameday morning, they were talking about Detroit and I think it was Rich Eisen who said he was told Lions are planning on clearing out the front office as well as coaches.
They also mentioned bringing in Roman from 49ers... Rumors are rumors and I will believe it when I see it, but thought it was interesting

Jay Glazer said Schwartz will be fired.

Glazer says:

Fired: Schwartz, Leslie Frazier and Mike Shannahan

Safe: Jason Garrett, Tom Coughlin, Greg Schiano and Joe Philbin

Maybe: Dennis Allen, Rex Ryan and Mike Munchak

I assume Mayhew is in charge of the firing? So there's still the "this organization is so stupid he'll probably keep his job" thing going on.

Mayhew will probably keep him if we win Today.

It's the Ford's decision when it comes to hiring/firing head coaches

I don't know if it's like this in every NFL franchise, but based on what I've been hearing on the radio the Fords will make the decision.

That report just came out recently that Mayhew wanted Schwartz gone but Jr didn't want to pay the buyout. That should give you a good idea how much power Mayhew is given.

I think they are all gone tomorrow, Mayhew, Lewand, gymshorts, Gunther, Linehan.
Maybe promote Xanders to GM and go from there

I could understand, with the money issues, Ford putting his big foot in there. But as far as hiring coaches I think for the most part goes to the GM.

Varies from team to team, Mayhew may not have the final say in hiring a head coach.

I really don't know who they would bring in anymore....maybe whisenhunt. Maybe the vanderbuilt coach who is an offensive guru. Everyone else is kinda...meh....

That's my only issue with firing Schwartz. I want us to fire someone because we absolutely know who our next head coach is going to be and we want to get him. Not just hire the next guy to fill the spot for a couple of years.

But then if we keep Schwartz then we probably keep Linehan and Gunther.

if they keep these clowns I just wish that the Lions ticket holder fans would leave the Ford's in droves.... Just won't happen because we are all so loyal to the Lions..

If everything stays as is, I probably won't be watching another game for the foreseeable future.
