NFC Playoff Thread

All teams need to do is pass. Forget running on us. We just need to get in and anything can happen. No team scares me in the NFC at all. They all have their issues, including the Saints.

Don't really see a weakness on the Saints, but yeah....most have an issue somewhere that can be exploited. Seattle: suspect o-line. Carolina: defense has to carry them, and Cam is their running game. 49ers: sporadic offense. Cowboys: duh. Cardinals: Carson Palmer. Still not convinced he's the answer.

Still racking my brain to find a weakness of the Saints. They were the only team I didn't want to play in 2011 and the only one I don't want to play this year. Their D is waaaaaay better than in 2011...

Other teams might have a weakness but The Saints, Carolina, Seattle all beat us, IMO. Unless we have a perfect game. Which is not as easy as it might appear.

Their Offensive Line is suspect to say the least. The Lions would make of mess of them today anyway. Come playoff time, who knows.

I hope Carolina wins that division. I'd much rather have to go there than New Orleans.

Time to root for the Vikings.

Go AP go!!! *alpenhorn toot*

agreed.

and wow...the eagles look legit right now. Eagles up 7-0 already. Foles is playing out of his mind. Next week will be interesting.

In their house too. Probably our toughest game rest of the way..

Though good thing with Philly, they have a good rushing team (our strength) and their defense is suspect. If Chris Houston can turn into Deion Sanders (or even Leon Sandcastle) then we can stop them throwing the ball.

Bears lost to Minnesota.

Need to beat Philly so we get the tie breaker over them and Dallas for the #3 seed.

Updating this post

Detroit holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Chicago
Detroit holds the divisional tiebreaker over GB (in the unlikely event that they tie)

Detroit goes 3-1 or better (10-6 or 11-5)
Detroit wins the NFCN

Detroit goes 2-2 (9-7)
GB needs to finish 4-0 to have a chance to win the NFCN (9-6-1)
Chicago needs to finish 4-0 to win NFCN (10-6 or 11-5)

Detroit goes 1-3 (8-8)
GB needs to finish 3-1 or better to have a chance to win the NFCN (8-7-1 or 9-6-1)
Chicago needs to finish 3-1 or better to win the NFCN (9-7, 10-6, or 11-5)

Detroit goes winless (7-9)
GB needs to finish 2-2 or better to have a chance to win the NFCN (7-8-1, 8-7-1, or 9-6-1)
Chicago needs to finish 2-2 or better to win the NFCN (8-8, 9-7, 10-6, or 11-5)
Minnesota needs to finish 4-0 to have a chance to win the NFCN (7-8-1)

I'm thinking Detroit goes 2-2. Currently I can't see either Chicago or GB go 4-0.

Basically, looking at the NFC North in a bubble, the Lions can afford to lose one game going forward.

Looking at the big picture (seeding), they need to beat Philly to hold the tiebreaker over NFC East leaders. I don't see them catching New Orleans (or Carolina) or Seattle.

In the unlikely event that the Lions do tie with the NFC South or West leader...I'll go through the possible tiebreakers (it'll be conference record since Detroit plays none of these teams)

Conference Records
New Orleans 7-0
Seattle 7-0
Carolina 7-2
Detroit 6-3

New Orleans or Seattle are guaranteed one loss (or tie) because they play each other this week. Carolina and New Orleans still have two more games to play between them.

Detroit and Carolina will have 3 remaining NFC games and Seattle and New Orleans will have 4 remaining NFC games after this week

Updated after the early games

According to makenflplayoffs, the Bucs are eliminated from the playoffs...I'll take their word for it

According to the same source, the Redskins still have a 0.001% chance to win a WC spot, interested to see how that would work.
