NFC Playoff Thread

Updated after the SF-St. Louis game

San Francisco now has a 1 game lead for the last WC spot.

Checking to see if Washington is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Edit: Confirmed Washington is out

More like downright frightening. You wonder when the stuff's going to hit the fan. It is the Lions after all.

Yep, I'm nervous as hell to see how this will all play out. Them being "in control" of anything scares me to death. They can prove that they have turned a corner by wrapping this division up somehow. Ugh, haven't had this uneasy feeling in a loooong time.

It's pretty simple now for the Lions, if they beat Philly they're in a real good spot for the 3rd seed.

In any event they better win a fuckin' playoff game. Otherwise it will be another disappointing season. Fuckin' win a playoff game.

Updated with the SNF game, all that's left this week is the big MNF game between NO and Seattle

Who thought, before the season, that Houston and Washington would be picking top 5 in the 2014 draft?

Houston is #1 overall.

I've decided to go off the deep end this time. Coming up with the seemingly impossible for Detroit's home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. I'll ignore ties for now.

How Detroit can get the 1st seed
If Detroit wins out (11-5), they need
- Seattle to beat New Orleans and lose out (11-5)
- Carolina to split with NO and lose the rest (10-6)
- NO would have one win against Carolina, lose out the rest (10-6)
Detroit would have a 9-3 conference record advantage over Seattle's 8-4

It's impossible for Detroit to have the lone best record in the NFC (excluding ties)

If New Orleans wins tonight, I believe it's impossible for Detroit to have the top seed (excluding ties)...although if anyone finds a crazy 5-way tie that puts Detroit on top, feel free to correct
New Orleans would be 10-2
Carolina would be 9-3

If Carolina sweeps NO, the worst they could finish is 11-5, they hold the common games tiebreaker over Detroit

If Carolina and NO split, the worst NO could finish is 11-5, they also hold the common games tiebreaker over Detroit

Wow. You are very optimistic.

As much as I would love home field throughout and a bye. I will take a home playoff game. I think we have a good shot at beating Car or SF.

and NO lost to the Jets, Car lost to Buffalo and SF has struggled to beat many teams. I am not saying we will win but we can beat any team if we play well.

I get it but I think there's a bit of over-confidence because we blasted the Packers. As far as your last statement, that goes to just about any team. In-fact we could also lose to anyone as well..

With the way they've turned it over lately, I still wonder if it's such a sure thing they even make the playoffs. Obviously injuries to Rodgers and Cutler has given this team a good opportunity, but with this franchise anything is possible.

It's one thing to cough up the ball and still beat a mediocre Dallas team and an awful Packers team (without Rodgers, they're awful), good luck winning that way against SF or Carolina.

Let's hope it's all a "fluke".

Key games this week in my opinion:

Det vs Philly- obvious but gives detroit a potential 1 game lead for playoff clinch
Dallas vs Chicago- Win for Dallas could give detroit 2 game lead with 3 left
NO vs Carolina- Who does detroit face in first round
Sea vs SF- see above
STL vs Ariz- Arizona loss give detroit 1 game lead for playoff clinch
