Joe Haden had a disaster of a combine. His 40 time and his vertical were both bottom 10 of all CBs that year. But his game tape and production from college were fantastic.

Yeah, Haden's combine was horrible. And yet, not as bad as Tom Brady's.

Alfred Morris, Drew Brees, and Antonio Brown are some other recent Pro Bowlers who has really bad combine scores as well.

Brown posted a 4.56 40 yard dash and ranked near the bottom of all wide receivers in bench press and jumping skills.

You're a homer, the first pick was good, beyond that though is a bunch of projects. Especially our third round receiver. He was projected much much much later.

Projects?! Lol. Ok! Tabor is hardly a project. He was a lockdown playmaking Corner in college. He's slow....so fucking what? He has a nose for the ball.

And Golladay should contribute. I'm not calling him a star but he helps an offense that wasn't that great in the RZ. He has size, speed and hands. Three things you can't teach. He'll instantly be our #3.

Go look at Maybin's numbers in college. He was a tackling machine at Tennessee. Back-to-back 100 tackle seasons. He'll definitely play ST's but keep an eye on this kid. He can cover too...

Hell, I even like the TE in the 4th as well. RZ monster that doesn't drop balls and scores TDs?! All day!

So, nothing homerish at all what i said. The first 4-5 draft picks should make an impact. The word "project" is thrown around way too loosely in the NFL if you ask me. To me, a project is asking these kids to do something they're not used to. All the kids i mentioned produced at a high level in college.

Agreed. Honestly, I think our TE drafted will be Stafford's go to guy in the red zone right away. He'll be Fauria, plus be a willing blocker, and probably won't roll his ankle playing with his miniature poodle

I wonder why they just didn't draft Butt instead of the guy from Toledo. Before his injury, he was supposed to be a first round TE. I read he was the best all around TE in the draft.

maybe so...but I haven't been able to find any really positive stuff about him.

Roberts "Roberts lack ideal top-end speed and he's still developing as a blocker. He has the tools to make an immediate impact in the red zone and become an effective No. 2 tight end if he keeps his weight down and puts in the work. -- Kevin Weidl

ESPN had him rated as the 13 best TE and 173rd overall (Lions made him the 7th TE off the board)

The next TE off the board was Butt. He was ranked the 5th best TE and 67 overall.

I have no idea, but I saw Butt play a lot and he looks like the real deal. I think he will be a stud in the NFL.

but who knows...it's a crap shoot

I think blocking paid a roll as well. Butt was never going ro be good at blocking although he had gotten better.

Our biggest need on offense pre-draft and FA was oline. We were able to upgrade both the RG and RT and spend less than it would have been to keep Warford and Reiff. We got a starting middle lb and corner. Got a redzone TE that can block. We also got some depth. I am pretty happy so far with the offseason.

This is what's important.. That is going to be hard to come back from.

This goes all the way back to Randy Moss.. We remember so vividly because we had the pick earlier. But many others passed on him.. He had a lousy off-season, some character concerns .. and even when his pro day was awesome, Scouts for Dallas said Moss was the greatest prospect they'd ever seen, they still passed on him. Point is, guys drop and you hope you get lucky, many don't.

All I know is that Belichick takes some really whacky picks every year. They say his draft board only has 75 guys or so every year, and he only picks the guys he thinks fit his system.

Quinn was one of his scouts for years, and even the man at the top. All of those guys came through his hands.

I think the picks we got are "odd" to say the least, but until Quinn proves me wrong, I gotta trust that he knows what he's doing.

I can say without question. I trust Quinn more than any Lion GM in my lifetime and I am 45. He has done a lot since taking over. I do think he really wants to get rid of Caldwell to hire a Pats coach probably Patricia. He will get Staff locked up next and then get to work fixing the rest of the team.

Like yourself, the best i could do was youtube scout some of the picks.

Roberts atleast is a bigger body that can inlilne block better than ebron all day and still be a redzone target with good hands. Bringing him in inside the 20 wont tip off plays by any means....hes definitely still a threat to catch the ball.

Golladays youtube package shows impressive size and speed. Hes more aggresive than Marvin Jones and doesnt look to have as hard a time getting off the line...in college atleast. If im just watching highlight tapes he reminds me of a TO. Unfortunately, theres like 80 more snaps a game than the highlight tape i saw lol. Hopefully he develops into a solid #2 for us...i think he can.

I really really liked this draft.....i just have lower expectations for our defense than Quin clearly has and thought itd be addressed more.
