NFL Draft Thread 2017

I think the Lions front office is banking on the likes of Spence Washington Hill.... All three are still young and have the physical traits to be good players, maybe the right coaches will be all it takes... For Hill he's already shown he can pass rush well he just needs to stay healthy. IMO guys with NFL experience have the edge over rookies to get on the field and I feel, like Quinn said about the RB position, the guys available later in the draft at DT and DE probably wouldn't have pushed for too much playing time anyway. IDK I just hope Hill can stay healthy, I think he can be really good for us.

Ngata is not garbage. Hill can rush if healthy too. Spence holds gap unlike Walker and Charles

Ansah healthy is huge for pass rush. 10-12 sacks again very possible. Hyder was consistent rush. Bryant 3 sacks in limited snaps. Full year out of him. Washington athletic potential. Dline can be a strength. Quinn said it was pre draft

Ansah healthy is like adding a pro bowler. And more coverage from cbs and lbs helps the pass rush. Allows more time to rush for coverage sacks too

How many snaps did you see ngata and Robinson on the field together? I asked who is playing next to those guys? Akeem spence? Yippie.

Best case scenario. Hayden revitalizes his career and wins the job opposite slay. Lawson at dime/ nickel. Tabor starts at safety over tavon.

Why can't Killabrew just win the job Hayden play in the slot where he is best Tabor start opposite Slay and Tavon TO THE BENCH

Added 3 Dline in free agency and resigned Bryant and hyder. Ansah healthy. Dline was addressed

Lol, why don't you use pff as your reference like you do everything else? Those three dlineman added were complete garbage.

I like our running backs. The problem is we only have one guy who can carry the ball effectively at the position. And he hasn't shown he can stay healthy, that is a disaster waiting to happen. I love love love Theo riddick, but due to his running skills I think he should be considered a specialist as a number 3. He's exciting, and explosive, but he can't fill in as a runner if Abdullah goes down.

Hard to have a perfect draft. Quinn cleaned up a lot of postions with his picks IMO. LB was huge and so was CB. Two immediate starters day 1 and the WR should contribute as well. If Maybin can stay healthy he'll be a steal. That kid flies all over the field. Rounds 1 through 4 should make an immediate impact.
I was a little dissapointed in them not fully addressing the RB and pass rush, but like I said, you can't make everyone happy. They are obviously banking on guys like Bryant, Hyder and Abdullah.

You're a homer, the first pick was good, beyond that though is a bunch of projects. Especially our third round receiver. He was projected much much much later.

Jarrad Davis, a need pick. As long as injuries don't become and issue I think it's a safe pick. May never be a star, but a good LBer. Reach that high in the 1st? Possibly, but again fills biggest need.

Teez Tabor. Good college stats, ran slow. I'm not a huge 40 time guy, but when you're the slowest DB, and slower than a number of TEs, LBers, etc it is a concern. I also always worry about drafting players that weren't the best at their position on their college team. But is a position of need. Still not expecting much contribution day 1.

Kenny Golladay Sounds like another guy that needs a lot of coaching/help. But has good size. Guess we will hope our coaches can develop him. Wouldn't expect much this year, hopefully he can help in the red zone.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin - Another LBer with Injury history, this time an undersized LBer. Wonderful. Sounds like he has good coverage skills. Good special teams player. Overall hard to get excited about, but maybe he will surprise.

Roberts - Should be #2 TE, could be a huge help in the red zone. Could this indicate the last year of MUN? Roberts could be our second most productive draft pick this year.

Agnew - Fast, but tiny. Probably developmental, but perhaps can surprise. Maybe some special teams value

Ledbetter - Seems to small to be a DT, and not good enough to be a DE. Not sure the plan

Kaaya - Not much different the Rudock. Both weak armed QBs, that have decent touch. I guess it's good to have competition for our backup QB position.

O'Connor - Just hope he can be a surprise and become a rotational guy. At this point you don't expect much, just hope for something.

So overall hard to be excited about the draft. One day 1 starter, a couple of possible guys that might see some time, and a bunch of question marks.

Is 6'0, 230 really an undersized olb? This guy will probably be 235-240 by the time the season starts

Was he officially measured ever? I've heard 5'11-6' which would be somewhat small. Seems like 6'1 to 6'2 is the new normal. If he can get his weight up, he will probably be ok.

What does that mean? We're Lions fans, we're all homers. I thought Titus was going to be a 15 year stud. I have a Jersey to prove it..

Btw, anyone want to buy a jersey?

6'0 3/8. This guy can carry another 5-10 lbs easily IMO. This will end up being my favorite pick of the draft a year or two from now.

Quin has to be banking on Hyder/Bryant getting production and Hayden being a starter. I really wouldnt be surprised if the plan for Tabor was at safety. If thats the case the only drastic "hole" i see on the defense is a rush DT.

Hyder Spence Robinson/Ngata Ansah
Williams/Maybin Davis Whitehead
Hayden Tabor Quin Slay

Front 7 is a little weak and the second theres injuries POOF.....were done.

While getting to the QB was an issue. The biggest problem was have no LB who could cover a TE. How many TE's had career games against us last year? I wish we could have fixed every issue but to be honest they cant do that.

Its like all the people complaining that we didnt take an RB to fix the running game. Unless we have Barry back there no RB will make much progress behind the line we had. I hope we fixed that with the OL additions. Its not the RB's fault when there is no whole to run through.

when you give up a record qb completion % and QBR to the opposing qbs....you ant cover ANYONE. not just the TEs. Thats usually because your pass rush is not consistent enough to force bad/off target throws.

Seems like we took a couple of projects, but I love the LBs and DBs we took. Davis was a safer pick than Foster, he's also bigger and faster than Foster. I really like the LB from Tennessee and his production in the SEC was excellent.

Tabor is the pick that will be debated the most. He is elite in every facet of the position except for 40 time. He has elite ball skills, elite quickness, and elite size for an NFL corner. So back to that 40 time, he was hurt at the combine and people begged him not to run, but he did anyway. Then he had to run at his pro day, but reports were that his hammy was hurt for that too, but he had to run regardless at that point and did even worse. It's possible that this guy could run a 4.5 forty when healthy.

I like what Quinn had to say about it. He ran a slow 40, but on tape, they couldn't find a play where anyone ran past him.

40 times to me are overrated anyway. I can't remember ever seeing a WR run 40 yards in a straight line, from a sprinter position, no one jamming him at the line, no one covering him.

The day it happens, he's going to score easily.. and that will be the last time it ever happens.

40 times can give you an "idea" of speed, but if you want to know how fast a guy plays, look at the tape.

Wow, I assumed John Lynch worked the Bears over on the phone, convincing them that if they didn't trade up, someone was taking Trubisky.

Apparently not. Apparently Lynch thought they were moving up to take Solomon Thomas, and was as surprised as everyone else when they went Trubisky.

They had an embedded reporter in the room with them. The Bears are now even damned dumber on this one.

Threw me off when Shefter was pretty much announcing Thomas as the Bears pick. The Bears confused everybody apparently. I don't know why, but Shefter being wrong is very funny to me.
