NFL investigating Patriots' footballs

I thought each team equipment managers handled its own team's footballs. Are the Ravens claiming that their own equipment managers deflated the Ravens own footballs?

Oh and why aren't the NFL refs checking the balls before the game?
Pretty damn easy to do..
Refs check balls make sure they are right.

I heard the fines for ball deflation was 25,000 dollars..
By all means fine them...LOL

from what I hear they do inspect the balls prior to the game...but not right before kickoff. It would be pretty easy for equipment guys to let a little air out of the balls.

But Colts players could tell they were deflated and not the Refs :/ LOL

So Chris Mortensen said the Colts turned in a pregame checklist about the balls possibly being deflated and to look out for this type of thing. Then at halftime they found the balls were in fact deflated. So if they knew at halftime did the re-inflate the balls again for the rest of the game??? If they did then it does seem like a non-issue because the Pats killed them after halftime.

And Mortensen did say the refs claim they absolutely inspected the footballs prior to the game.

Kick them out of the Super bowl then and put in the Colts...

Now its come out the refs knew this at halftime and changed the balls... Has this been confirmed?

Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Wednesday that the Colts had concerns about underinflated balls after their regular-season game against the visiting Patriots on Nov. 16.

During that game, Indianapolis' Mike Adams twice intercepted Tom Brady and gave the balls to the Colts equipment manager to save -- and both times there were concerns about the balls feeling underinflated, sources told Schefter.

Part of the investigation that needs further vetting is how the 11 footballs became underinflated.

The game balls that each team received for preparation were required to be inspected and marked with a dot -- signifying that they passed inspection -- by referee Walt Anderson two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, then returned to a ball attendant.

The balls are required to be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces. No alteration of footballs is allowed once they are approved, under league rules and regulations.

The balls are then put into ball bags and are set on the sideline for each team. The ball bags are not guarded or watched in any way. When an official calls for a new football, a team's designated ball boy will get a new football from the ball bag and give it to the official.

LOL

Colts tight end Dwayne Allen, however, said on Twitter that the issue still didn't affect the outcome of the game.

He tweeted...NFLonFox not a story. They could have played with soap for balls and beat us. Simply the better team. We have to continue to build!

As a QB, how could you not know?

As a ref who handles the ball, how could you not know? If a defensive back can touch the ball one time and immediately realize something was wrong with the ball, why didn't the refs when they handled them? This story is probably worse than the media calling Suh dirty and then showing him stepping on Rodgers in slow motion, making it seem like he intentionally stood on Rodgers for a few seconds.

Didn't I read somewhere that actually Colts defenders were told to turn over the Pats footballs to their own equipment managers in the event of a turnover?

Maybe the guy didn't know. Maybe the Colts suspected that something was afoot going in.

This is such a joke. If it gave the Pats such a huge advantage, I guess Brady's interception and the Edelman fumble shouldn't have happened.

The facts are there. The pats dominated the ground. They dominated on defense. Brady didn't have a superstar type game. It was very Matt Stafford (2014 version) ish. Does anyone really believe the Colts would win more than 2 games out of 10 against the Pats? I don't. They are clearly the best AFC team with or without deflation. If this is something the Patriots are doing, they deserve punishment, but their play on both sides of the ball prove that they also deserve to go to the super bow.

If they did, they would have only had to mention it to the refs. They handle the ball on every single play. It wouldn't have been hard to point it out.
