@Spockmaster I'm betting the logic is that he can split the 7th with Coke, giving Tigers two experienced guys to get them to Benoit/Valverde

You have resources. What's the scoop on Daniel Murphy.

:)
lol he just tweets back at me sometimes when i tweet at him. my only sources are my twitter feed and mlbtr.

KalineCountry[/color]]Dotel is one of the few free agent Middle relievers who had an acceptable shutdown/meltdown ratio last year: 2.5 (15/6). Anything over 2 is pretty good.

2008 = 24/13 1.85
2009 = 17/10 1.70
2010 = 21/11 1.91
2011 = 15/6 2.50

I am more inclined to think 2011 was a fluke. The trend suggest a regress in 2012.

well as of now, the Tigers have made an aggressive offer to Dotel.
aggressive might mean more than he made last year, or a 2 year deal?

Not that I'm overly concerned but is there price point for Dotel?

his salary last year was $2.75 million, but i dont like the sound of "aggressive offer" so i wouldnt doubt if its $4-5 million/year or more.

Dotel made 2.75 or 3M for 2011. So it is for 3.25/3.5M or a bit more or the 2 years at double?

per danny knobler: "Can confirm that Octavio Dotel close to deciding between Tigers and one other team"

lets go mystery team! sign dotel!

I have a soft spot for Dotel. His 145 k season in 2001 was one of the reason i won the fantasy baseball league that year and around a grand... Check out these players from the past....LOL

looks like its us or the cards. i hope it ends up being the cards.

Sbee was always big on Dotel. I am fine with signing him. Perry is probably get shipped out of town

Why is everyone against Dotel? Probably an improvement over Perry and likely not too expensive or long term.

It's us and the Cards with us in the lead. He's "enamored" with the Cards though. Leyland called him personally to express our interest.

i feel like we're going to overpay for him, especially because at this point he should only face right-handed hitters. id rather upgrade the various holes in our lineup/on the field than overpay for a righty specialist.

Jon_Heyman Jon Heyman
#tigers getting closer to deal with dotel. Cards hanging in but probably proccupied by another free agent
