So after a quick search of this kid I see that he ran a 4.86 40 and was suspended for a night club assault. So he's slow and an idiot. Perfect pick

While the level of competition wasn't always noteworthy, his impact production was. In a draft that is heavy on undersized, uber-productive linebackers, Tavai offers an NFL frame, good play strength, an aggressive demeanor and almost 10 tackles per game over the last three seasons. He's not overly explosive, but his decisiveness and motor are play traits that should serve him well as a pro. He could be a good three-down backup who could develop into an eventual starter inside.

Needs to play off blocks more quickly
Has to stay disciplined to snuff out back-side cuts Could struggle in pure man coverage
Tackle technique can be segmented with feet stopping to load and explode hips
Misses tackles when he leaves his feet behind
 
No matter what the scouts say, the Lions liked him enough to take him. We're gonna find out why.
 
Nobody will ever accuse Quinn of paying attention to any draft board but his own, of this I am certain.

I'm going to wait and see but if this season goes belly up, I want to see Patricia, Quinn, and Stafford gone. And I'm generally pretty positive when it comes to Quinn and Patricia's approach but when you make some of these 'smartest guy in the room' type moves, I don't really have the patience.

From what I read, he beat some dude's ass for pushing a woman to the ground. He's like Kareem Hunt/Tyreek Hill on opposite day.

2 Rainbow Warriors arrested after Honolulu nightclub altercation

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two University of Hawaii football players were arrested for assault at a Honolulu nightclub early Saturday morning, according to police records.

Linebacker Jahlani Tavai and running back Kaiwi Chung were arrested for third degree assault after they were involved in an altercation with a man who allegedly pushed a woman to the ground, according to law enforcement sources.

It happened at The District nightclub on Kona Street.

Tavai and Chung are believed to have been in the vicinity of the initial incident and subsequently went after the man. They were later arrested for the misdemeanor crime.

Jahlani! One of my favorite players in this year’s class. A modern day linebacker, he has inside-out versatility with the skills to play any down. His tape shows a player who can rush, drop and cover. He was “out of sight, out of mind” because he was from Hawaii and missed the Senior Bowl and Combine, but I LOVED his tape. Great pick by the Lions. -Dane Brugler

“Tavai probably gives the Lions more chances to move Jarrad Davis around, but Hawai’i actually used Tavai off the edge quite a bit. He had 17.5 sacks in 47 career games.
