OFFICIAL: Draft Day (Day One-Three)

Just curious

Where would Broyles have gone if he hadn't gotten injured?

2nd/3rd.

he's a pass catching machine, but that's why we got titus young last year. Nate is the same type of player. What are we going to do? Play 4WR sets when we have 2 really good TE?

He would be behind Blackmon and Floyd, maybe Wright, i would say late 1.

hell no, i loved the titus pick.

i like broyles as the player, but we could have had him so much later in this draft.

He was a 2nd rd lock. He had moved back up there. Its not a reach as long as they are comfortable with his health

I liked watching Broyles play and I am irritated at where we took him but skill wise he was BPA. I get it, Im now over being ticked off.

without the injury he was the third best wr. He was ahead of Wright and if not for his size would have been ahead of Floyd.

Giants at 32 or SF at 30. I liked him better than Wright. No knee injury I like it, guess he's a fast healer.

Wr WAS a need. MUST have 3 wrs in every game. They got lucky with health last year. And nate wont be around forever. Ive been saying wr is an option for months now.

If hes bpa, you take him

My problems with the Broyles pick are that he's hurt, he was taken too early when there were better players (my opinion) at more important positions on the board, and we just drafted Young last season to fill this same spot.

Highlights of the read:
overall rank 98! 12th best WR
injured all the time
previous arrest

...sounds like he'll fit right in. Nice job MM...you got a good punt returner in rd 2.

Overall Football Traits
Production 1 "2007: Redshirt. 2008: (13/8) -- 46-687-14.9-6 2009: (12/12) -- 89-1,120-12.6-15 2010: (14/14) -- 131--1,622--12.3--14 2011: (9-9) -- 83-1,157-13.9-10. Career (2008-'11) - 108 PRs-998-11-2. 6 KORs-113 yards-18.8-0. "
Height-Weight-Speed 4 Possesses below-average height and weight for the position. Top-end speed is good but not elite.
Durability 5 Suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee against Texas A&M this past season. Knee injuries prevented him working out at the combine. Injured left shoulder on second play of the Miami contest in 2009 and was forced to sit out the following week against Baylor. Also he could add some bulk to frame to improve ability to withstand a 16-game regular season at the NFL level.
Intangibles 3 Arrested in August of 2007 on an attempted larceny charge after trying to steal gas from a gas station. Has matured throughout career and was one of the leaders on offense in 2011. Brings added value on special teams as a punt returner.

Separation Skills 3 Works primarily from the slot. A smooth route-runner that has shown improvement throughout career. Has done a much better job of setting up defenders within stem to gain initial leverage in the past two seasons on tape. Tempos routes and transitions quickly getting out of breaks. Makes crisp cuts running lateral in and out routes. Appears quicker than fast on film though and while he gets out of breaks effortlessly does not have an elite burst to run away from defenders. Needs to get stronger and can get knocked off routes on occasion. Wades through traffic well working against zone coverage. Also does a nice job of finding and sitting down in soft spots.

Ball Skills 1 "Possesses one of the better sets of hands in this year class. Catches everything with hands and rarely allows ball into frame. Displays good body control and easily opens hips to make grab when ball is thrown behind him. Also shows ability to scoop shoestring throw. Secures ball in traffic. However, smaller frame provides QB with limited strike zone. Also can be pushed around by bigger and more physical defenders in jump-ball situations. "

Big play ability 3 "Quicker than fast and does not appear to have the long speed to consistently get behind defenses. However, catches the ball effortlessly on the run and quickly turns up field. An elusive and slippery runner when hitting the open field. Can create and turn and short throw into a long gain. Does not have the extra gear to consistently out run pursuit that has favorable angles. "

Competitiveness 1 "Displays the willingness to work the middle of the field. Attacks the ball in the air. In addition, has focus to secure catch while taking a big hit. Gives good effort as a run blocker but is easily shed by bigger defenders. Will hustle down field to throw block for teammates. Really improved field awareness from 2010 film to 2011 tape. Knows when to fight for extra yards and when to protect body. "

Even when you're in a 2 tight end set 80% of the time?
