PFF Review Week 5

6 sacks, 0/3 FGs, little run game and 4 oline penalties is a little different than what you said. It's a worst case scenario for a game support wise.

Defense got a pick 6 and held the opponent to 17 points. Sounds like enough support to me! 7 points out of the offense is terrible.

That is not enough support from the Oline and FG kicker. It is terrible support. We are talking like 8 drives killed from those guys.

263 total yards, 195 in the air...1-11 on 3rd down conversions. A lot of that is on your boy Matt.

6 sacks hurt many drives. Many not his fault. Plus you got the 4 big Oline penalties. Some drops. And the 3 missed FG for 9 points too. He could play better but it wasn't him that game.

Its his fault because he cant make reads fast enough and doesn't get the ball out...so he gets sacked. Same ol Stafford.....but now he cant stare calvin down or toss it up to him to bail him out....so hes doing what he always does....gets rattled and does not much of anything.

Also there is no excuse for all the missed FG's, but its not like the offense drove down to the 10 yard line and we missed a chip shot. Seems like our offense stalled around the 30 and we were settling for 45-50 yard attempts.

Again no excuse for all the misses but I would expect more from our offense. Its not enough to drive to about the 35 and then always settle for a FG.

With all the weapons we have and bringing in the staff to build up Staffod, I feel like our offense should be scoring 20-30 points a game.

No excuse to lose a game where our d gives up 14 points but score 7 on their own.

3rd and long....plenty of time on the clock. Lets NOT go for a first down and settle for close to a 50 yard fg for the win when your kicker has missed horribly the entire game. Caldwell is a fucking idiot.....

1 of 2 hings should have happened:

1) go for a 1st down and get closer for your shitty kicker

2) run the ball to run clock so if your shitty kicker misses the other team cant go the length of the field in 3 plays and beat you

orrrrrrrr the Caldwell option:

throw it 6 inches into the hands of a dlineman. take no time off the clock and come nowhere near a first down. Settle for a super long kick with your shitty kicker. miss the kick and let kyle orton beat you.

Caldwell should have been fired after the game....

I read that Caldwell stated the missed FG's altered what he wanted to do on the final drive. Which I find funny because instead of being agressive we settled for a 50 yard try that I'm pretty sure no fan on this board believed was going to be made

ya, hes so dumb he forgot what he actually did. He "altered" what he did so he became non aggressive and settled for a long field goal. yup, makes perfect sense.....if youre a moron.

So if I've read correctly so far, it sounds like Stafford had a bad day by any standards (-1.8 overall). The offense ALSO had problems all over the place with poor protection, not creating any running lanes, and obviously the kicking fiasco. Considering the offense only scored 7 points all game, it makes sense that it wasn't any one person's fault that we lost (though certainly Henery seems to have had the worst day of the bunch.

I'm not going to throw Stafford under the bus for one bad game like this. It can't be easy to completely change around the offense, and defenses generally have an advantage over offenses early in the season. We can hate Schwartz, but I don't think it's any coincidence that he knows better than anyone how to pick at the tendencies of our QB. The Bills had a great gameplan and executed it. Our offense couldn't seem to adjust, and guys obviously lost confidence as the game went on. I don't think this game exposed some fatal flaw in the team, except that we can get beat when half the team plays like crap.

What happened to the "great O Line" they had last year? What happened to the "holeless roster"?

Nobody was calling for a starter in this years draft at OLine though. It seems like the whole offensensive unit looks confused at times. Lombardi needs to keep this shit in check....

It's a bit of everything. Oline blocking, longer developing plays and Stafford holding longer learning a new offense. We'll see if they get it set. The next 3 weeks are not good defenses. We'll see if we put up points.

Btw, the Lions had ONE red zone trip the entire game. It's funny that with all the money and draft picks spent on offensive pieces, the offense still turns to total dog shit without CJ.

Protection problems. Oline struggled last year without Calvin actually too. 5 sacks each game at Green Bay and at Minnesota last year. Oline can't block without Calvin apparently.

And what's up with Rob Sims? both watching the game and reading reviews, he had an awful game on Sunday. He's been pretty solid since being traded here, hopefully it was just a bad day.

Marcel Dareus is pretty good. Sheldon Richardson too.

Or Matt holds on to the ball trying to find out where Calvin is..

Or the WRs not getting open with more coverage towards them. Or the play calls with longer developing routes. Or poor blocking. Or all of these things combined into one big problem.
