please watch - stafford

The weapons were injured and not deep in 2013 and he had to use Durham. The run blocking was bad in 6 games (many of Stafford's bad games). Lions were 22nd in run at 4 YPC in 2013.

Oline far from perfect in 2013.

Stafford had 29 TDS (6th in league) in 2013. he was good.

You know what the best part of all this is?

The FACT that Stafford, with all his flaws, inabilities to win big games or any road game vs teams with a winning record and all that other stuff that points toward his level of suck...he is that he actually is the best QB in Lions history based on the number of Lions stats where he is #1 all time now.

Bwahahahahahahahaha....hahahahaha....haha...ha.....ahhhhhhhhh! Only the Lions man, only the Lions. If you ranked the all time team leading QBs, he has to be the bottom feeder on that list.

And this is the reason many point to Stafford as being great, because he is the best QB in Lions history based on stats. Bobby Layne won the titles, but Stafford has far better overall stats due to how different the NFL is now.

I don't buy that anymore. "He's the best QB in my lifetime..." BS, blah blah blah.

When it comes to the success of Lion QBs... Stafford is truly a dwarf among midgets.

Eric Kramer, when he was with Chicago, had a year with 29 TD and 10 INT. If that guy can have a year like that, Matt not so special.

You don't have to buy it, the stats put him at the top, which is why it is so fucking pathetic and hurts so much, and why people like LKP will prefer to hold onto him.

Then there is the unknown of who to replace him with. The Brady/Manning/AR types are not common enough to bring any confidence that Detroit will get one when they finally go after Stafford's replacement. Historically it is not common to have a team improve at QB when they replace their team's all-time leader in most stats. I can only think of the Pats when they replaced Bledsoe with Brady. There is no Brady current on the Lions roster, which means they have to draft someone.

Maybe they get lucky, but it really is a matter of being lucky for the most part. Not only does that new QB have to perform at a higher level for many years, they have to avoid injuries and have to survive any potential bad years.

Granted Matt has not set the bar very high, so it is possible...until you remember that it is the Lions.

Just shows how amazingly pathetic this franchise has been. That they haven't stumbled onto a good QB in this long.

We've had other QB put up one good year and then shit. Matt's not special.

Edit: And you can't compare Matt to QB's from 20-30 years ago. The game has changed so much. Hell, even a different game from 5 years ago.

Where did I say he was special? Just pointing out the fact he holds the Lions records, which is pathetic, and that historically it is extremely rare that a team improves when they replace their all time leading QB.

It's pathetic that you're trying to compare QB of different times.

I'm not saying they should not replace him, I just recognize the historical difficulty in finding a replacement who will be better. Now, maybe that guy's replacement will be better, but finding that guy likely means CJ is long past prime, probably not even on the team still. It could take 20+ years for a Lions QB to break Stafford's records. Actually, I would not be surprised if his records last 50+ years based on how this organization operates.

Who cares about the records? Even QB from the 90's 4000 yards was a huge accomplishment. Now it's easy to obtain. Yes, it's easy to replace Matt.

The records don't even matter that much to me, I'd rather have a more balanced offense with a stronger run game. High attempts and big yardage totals isn't necessarily a good thing.

I don't disagree with this either, which is why I would like Harbaugh to leave the Ravens and come here. That is exactly what I would expect his offense to be like. That doesn't mean the QB is statistically better than Matt except for in wins, which is the only stat that really matters.

Agree.

With the players we have, what will Harbaugh do? Still no run game..

If you go with that mentality that "you can't replace him because he's the best this franchise has had," then I hope you are okay with continued garbage.

That whole best in franchise history doesn't work here. The organization is so pathetic. Every time I hear that, I'd ask that person, "How would he rank on a real organization with proud QB tradition?" Where would he be in the laurels of Green Bay history, or Steeler history? He'd be in the bottom half.

You guys are missing my points. I am NOT saying they should not replace him; however, some seem to think whomever his replacement is will automatically be a better QB. Historically speaking, throughout the NFL, when a team replaces their all-time stats leader, the guy replacing him does worse. Despite that, the Lions need to replace Stafford, I just don't hold out much hope that the next QB will actually be better than Stafford due to the historic difficulty combined with the fact it is the Lions.

Now the only real stat that matters is wins. It is possible that his replacement could be worse, but the team manages to win. I'm good with that, but again, it is the Lions so I'm not confident the next QB will actually win more either.

Don't get hung up on that all-time stats leader. He is that because the team has absolutely let him throw a TON as the starter. His attempts are through the stratosphere. Look at the important stats: TD/INT, QBR. He's not very good.
