The Lions OL rated well, 2013. Matt, still sucked.

Get StartedI don't buy that anymore. "He's the best QB in my lifetime..." BS, blah blah blah.
You don't have to buy it, the stats put him at the top, which is why it is so fucking pathetic and hurts so much, and why people like LKP will prefer to hold onto him.
Then there is the unknown of who to replace him with. The Brady/Manning/AR types are not common enough to bring any confidence that Detroit will get one when they finally go after Stafford's replacement. Historically it is not common to have a team improve at QB when they replace their team's all-time leader in most stats. I can only think of the Pats when they replaced Bledsoe with Brady. There is no Brady current on the Lions roster, which means they have to draft someone.
Maybe they get lucky, but it really is a matter of being lucky for the most part. Not only does that new QB have to perform at a higher level for many years, they have to avoid injuries and have to survive any potential bad years.
Granted Matt has not set the bar very high, so it is possible...until you remember that it is the Lions.
We've had other QB put up one good year and then shit. Matt's not special.
Where did I say he was special? Just pointing out the fact he holds the Lions records, which is pathetic, and that historically it is extremely rare that a team improves when they replace their all time leading QB.
I'm not saying they should not replace him, I just recognize the historical difficulty in finding a replacement who will be better. Now, maybe that guy's replacement will be better, but finding that guy likely means CJ is long past prime, probably not even on the team still. It could take 20+ years for a Lions QB to break Stafford's records. Actually, I would not be surprised if his records last 50+ years based on how this organization operates.
The records don't even matter that much to me, I'd rather have a more balanced offense with a stronger run game. High attempts and big yardage totals isn't necessarily a good thing.

I don't disagree with this either, which is why I would like Harbaugh to leave the Ravens and come here. That is exactly what I would expect his offense to be like. That doesn't mean the QB is statistically better than Matt except for in wins, which is the only stat that really matters.
