Potential Cap Casualties

There are alot of teams with less talent than the Lions and less people locked up long term. Lions have a draft and free agency for two WRS and a safety. Not worried about that at all.

some of those teams spend their money wisely though too. and recruit well.

no they don't. if they did do well the Lions wouild be like the Redwings and Tigers. they are not. because they bust on a lot of picks. broyles, Mike williams, Kevin Smith, JAvhid Best, Titus Young, roy Williams, Charle Rogers, to name a few

The Lions spend their money wisely in free agency. And draft well.

And yet it hasn't shown up on the field. I think they have hit on a few top of the round draft pics but not enough later round picks.

Easy now, true they drafted well last year. But that is probably their best draft since the got Ellis, Sloan, Boyd, and Schlesinger all in the same year.

One draft does not all of a sudden make them a good drafting team

lkp has WCF's dick in his mouth

So much wow and sooo much hate for the forever optimistical statistical genius known as LKP. And you couldn't pay me the entire amount of the national debt in 100 dollar bills to even consider that. Just sayin that fucked.

On both the radio and the internet, I hear fans talk about drafting a CB and cutting Houston and I really don't get it. It would be financially irresponsible to cut Houston. Even if you don't think he's any good, he's still going to be around for at least one more season because of his contract. I guess it's too difficult to comprehend for some people.

Most fans don't geek out over the team like we do. I don't blame them for wanting Houston gone. I doubt they know the cap implications. If they do, they're idiots.

Good point

And I guess it's not nearly as bad as the people who want to trade Stafford...because, after all, who doesn't love $33 million counting against the cap for a player who isn't even on the team?

I could see us drafting a cb but Houston isnt going anywhere unless he is traded which wont happen. That being said WR is the most biggest draft need for us to take the next step. If Stafford is only going to get slightly better than he needs more weapons down field. But I also dont see a game breaking CB in this draft that will step in and be better than Houston. So at this point we need to see a jump in production from Slay and a bounce back year from Houston or maybe we hit on a guy in the draft.

That's two gone

That leaves Leshoure, Owens, Hilliard, Sims, Harris, and Jones on this list. Not sure if we see any more, I HIGHLY doubt they cut Sims.

Resign Sims and Hilliard and the rest can go. I would like to retain Jones but it isnt a must. He is a great backup though and can come in and play really well as a starter.

Keep Houston but he better not be our number one next season.

He might be even if they draft a CB. Even if he is it doesn't mean the secondary can't / won't be better next year. IF the young guys develop a bit and the rookie improves the depth it can be better next season.

I suppose but he's not a number one. He's barely a number two. He gets creamed by number one WR.
