Preseason Game 2: Lions @ Raiders

nice call tony....Matthews looks good for sure. I think Moncrief is going to be stashed behind Nicks, Ty Hilton and reggie wayne.....but in chip kellys system Matthews will earn time all over the field.

sigh...my 2 WR choices from last draft...one can only dream...

Didn't Matthews have some drop issues in college as well though? Could become the #1 in Philly if Maclin gets hurt and he probably will...

I think the biggest knock on him was kinda the same thing Sammy Watkins was criticized for...how many passes he caught within 7 yards of the LOS. From what I read CHip has him playing a lot in the slot and TE positions....kinda his own version of a hybrid TE to create match up issues. If only "matchup nightmare" wasn't taken already...

18 YPC. A TE who gets downfield like a WR? All day..

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

TRY GETTING A RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW, YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU, FUCKING BASTARD!

Great movie!!!

I DVRed the game and watched it this morning. Starting offense looked great, Stafford was sharp, the pass to Tate was a thing of beauty. Durham bailed him out a bit on the second TD though. Durham is really trying hard to make the team. Broyles continues to impress. It is going to be hard to cut one of the receivers. Even if it is the Jags, I want to see what this team can do with Megatron in there. It should be scary. I never really noticed Pettigrew in the game at all, either he didn't play much or was solely relegated to blocking. Ebron showed what he could do with a couple catches, a much better outing by him this week. I remember a play where he started in line on the right side, went in motion and blocked a guy coming off the edge. Orlovsky played light years ahead of last week. He is still firmly entrenched as the backup.

Leshoure danced around a little bit to much at first before plunging into the pile. I really don't see him making the team at this point, especially since he doesn't play special teams. Freese really confuses me. The big thing coming out of BC about him was his accuracy. He seems really inconsistant, but I give him props for making that long kick. I didn't think he had that kind of leg.

As far as the defense goes, we need more pressure from up front. Hopefully Ansah helps. This team is really in trouble if we can't resign Suh. The blitzing was a nice change, Tulloch looked awesome doing it. Palmer was invisible, but Van Noy had a good QB pressure. Didn't hear Slay's name being called. That is a good thing because that means they didn't throw at him. Greenwood looks like he will be a back up, he made a good play to prevent that TD. Green looks terrible, couldn't cover and some bad penalties to boot. Couplin didn't have the splash plays he did last week, lets see if he can bounce back next week.
