Preseason Game 3: Lions @ Jaguars Thread

I think the PI is because he had no awareness. The WR was trying to adjust and slow down to make the catch mathis just kept running and got into the body before the ball got there.

It's a call I hate, rewards under thrown balls, but they consistently call it. There was more contact on this one then the Pettigrew playoff call/non call.

There is no rule that a DB has to play the ball.......only if he has his hands on the WR.

I thought the defender had to at least make an attempt to look for the ball? Isn't that why Houston used to get flagged for all the time? Lol

Agree.

We know Matt can make throws like that.. We've seen him do it. We just it more often.

Keep CJ healthy and get fatty back.

The DB doesn't HAVE to look back......only if he is trying to play the ball.

If he is just covering the WR and looking to jar the ball loose....he never has to look at the ball.

What about face guarding or did they remove that rule?

Face guarding is legal. Just can not make contact. Which is where mathis made the error.

That must have changed over the years. I guess I'm out of the loop.

Yea, I'm not sure when it did. I just remember they kept bringing up how it is now legal the days after the Lions/cowboyd game. That's when I learned it was no longer illegal.
