Preseason Game 3: Lions @ Jaguars Thread

They were fine without Tully last year. Leader or not, when you lose a step and can no longer perform at the necessary level, you no longer play every down.

I think he'll start as a 3 down LB......but if he gets exposed like he did Friday.....it wont be more than a couple games before he his replaced on 3rd downs and nickel situations.

Like ZYXT said......you cannot be that much of a liability in the passing game and continue to be out there......especially when there are options behind you that can get the job done. At this point in their respective careers.....Whitehead is simply a better coverage LB than Tulloch.

Tully is the leader of that defense. He'll be out there all the time. Not too worried about what Bortles did, with 5 of our front 7 out. Zenner can play, he'll make the team.

I like Tulloch but he's not a 3-down LB. He's a runstuffer and that's about it.

Tulloch has never really been a good coverage LB. Plays the run very well and that's it.

Tulloch has been very good in coverage.
+11.0 in 2013 (3rd best in league for all ILB
+3.4 in 2012 (8th best in league for all ILB)
+10.4 in 2011 (3rd best in league for all ILB)
+7.9 in 2010 (3rd best grade in league for all ILB)

Tulloch is a great cover guy.

Tulloch had a bad game with Bynes and Lewis around him and mising the starting Dline. He'll play much better during the regular season.

Wow...i had no idea lol. My bad

I'm not convinced he is 100% back from his injury. This was a "bad game", but it was his first real action vs another team since being injured last year. Maybe it was rust, maybe he's just not back 100%, or maybe he is as healthy as he is going to get...but he was flat out exposed in this last game. If he doesn't improve, he shouldn't be on the field except for in rush D situations.

And the DL did get some pressure...just look at the times Bortles was flushed from the pocket. Specifically the play where he turned Tully all around like a top. Tough spot for any LB to be in for sure, just pointing out that Tully appeared lost and slow on pass D.

If it was just one bad game, fine...but he has to prove himself after that because it really was that bad. No one can watch his performance in that game and say with confidence that he will be fine...not when it brought up the probability he is not - and might never get back to - 100% where he was last year.

Walker had 4 hurries. He was playing well. Can't wait to see him next to Ngata. Bortles did run the ball well to avoid pressure. 11 yard and 12 yarder (plus bogus penalty on Ihedigbo for another 15).

We stopped them on the second drive. That was not a TD. The PI on Mathis was questionable too.

Quin can play much much better. Levy will be in coverage. Slay played really well still. Not worried about Tulloch quite yet.
