I could not get behind firing Babs. I love how he tells it like it is, the man doesn't bs. Everyone knew this year would be tough before the injuries started piling up and were still in fine position to get in the playoffs. Once Helm gets back in the lineup, things will fall into place.
I agree that you cant blame him for the injuries and that no one thought this would be a cup contender. But hockey coaches seem to have a shelf life, you almost never see a coach last as long as Babcock has with Det. For some reason it seems like after a while the players tune the coach out. It does always seem that the same coaches just get rehired by another team, how many teams have Hitchcock and Quenneville coached in the past few years.
