Russell Okung

Tony no need to be frightened, you're like Pavlov's Dog when I want you to bark I'll jingle your chain. There has to be a certain comfort in that, no?

Oh, it's frightening, retard. As for you thinking you have any control over me is priceless. You have the brain capacity of a dead worm. You control nothing

Free agent left tackle Russell Okung has an offer in hand from the Steelers, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com (Twitter link), while Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports (Twitter link) that Okung has no other visits planned at this time. Okung is just one of a few offensive tackles whom Pittsburgh has either met with or plans to meet with, including Ryan Harris and Chris Hairston. Kelvin Beachum, the Steelers? left tackle for the past few seasons, remains unsigned, and is taking visits with other clubs.

I'm scared that they are going to nab him. That's a winning organization. They can spot talent and talent wants to win. We'll see if Quinn can pull it out but it will have to be with his pocketbook.

Good!! Let the Steelers overpay and he can get those 10 games in before he goes down.

Anyone for kicking the tires on Beachum? Dudes is kind of like Okung... Plays pretty well when healthy but that's the issue... IDK I think it would be worth looking at and talking to him...

From what I read he's number two on everyone's list who is after Okung. The dominos may drop after Okung is signed.

Bears nabbed another one of our targets, Akiem Hicks. Former Pats DT.

Bears added 3 decent pieces on their defense this offseason. Fortunately, they had nothing to begin with.

annnnnd.....tony flip flopped on the ebron pick :D the whole root for a player thingy aside....he absolutely hated the idea of drafting him prior to the draft. But to his defense he did say he would understand why they would draft him. Don't really understand why he feels the need to defend him now all the time....hes been pretty awful with flashes of trying to be athletic. But sometimes Tony just likes to argue and sometimes tony really feels strongly about things. Not really sure which what it is when it comes to ebron.

Ebron did not select himself as the 10th overall pick...so why hammer him? Hammer Millen's prot?g?...who made the pick.

So by all accounts, this is where things sit with Okung:

*He has narrowed it down to the Steelers, Lions, Giants.
*In Pittsburgh he would be the starting LT, no question, but the Steelers have the least available to spend of the three.
*In Detroit he would likely be a LT, assuming Rieff doesn't refuse to switch spots on the line and create a problem. The Lions have the most to spend.
*In New York he would likely be a RT with Ereck Flowers remaining at LT and he's not excited about moving to the right side.

It seems as though the Lions have the edge, assuming (there's that word again) they are actually willing to spend the money they can. Just because they have the most available doesn't mean they have made the largest offer.

All visits are completed and he should make his decision this week. Acting as his own agent, he's done a very thorough and quality job for himself by all accounts, but there isn't expected to be much haggling over legal language in a deal at this point.

Teams can get very creative when creating space....so it probably comes down to how much Pittsburgh wants him and if he will take a few mil less to be involved with a "winning" organization instead of the lions. Us being the favorites only because we can offer the most money and let him play his natural position isn't much to go on at this point.

Hi my name is mhughes0021 ....have we met? lol

Ofcourse it was mayhews dumb ass fault. And there were plenty of people on here defending him the last half decade when I was bashing him. Cant have it both ways....Theres a reality....mayhew sucked and ebron wasn't worth a high first round pick. That's the reality.

I said it when he was drafted... if it means we finally cut ties with Droptimus Prime, the pick was worth it to me.

Droptimus now has his 3rd ACL tear and is STILL on this fucking roster. It was clearly NOT worth it at all.

You know they weren't going to cut him, they extended him like 2 seconds before Ebron was drafted.

So you're confused on what flip flopping means to then eh??? Lol. Holy fuck! I never flip flopped for fuck sakes!! I didn't like the pick....i still dont like the pick.....but i understood the pick because it was frickin explained to us why he was drafted. I never claimed this kid was a bust or garbage then all of a sudden said this kid was the second coming lol. So what if i stick up for the kid? Doesn't mean i flip flopped. I just want the kid to succeed because he plays for the Lions!!! Plain and simple. You guys bash everything Lions related no matter what.

Hopefully he can pick up some meaningful targets in CJs absence....I haven't given up on him by any means....but the dude has flat out way to many drops early in his career. True...it was explained why they picked him there. "he is the only blue chip player left on our board" and the whole "Hes lombardis Jimmy Graham".....except mayhew and Lombardi are morons so none of those things came to fruition. Throw him in there with Tate and Riddick and someone is going to get open. But to think what they missed out on is just simply depressing.

Ok...i can live with that, but get it straight. I didn't want the kid. I'm just not going to sit here and continuously bash the kid because i didn't want him either. Too much negative energy towards him is not the way it should go. He's had some bad drops but at least he's improved on his abysmal rookie year. Now, he needs to step up and be that playmaker in CJ's absence. Hopefully him and Staff can start clicking immediately

If I remember correctly, there was a thread started.....by Hughes I think.......right before the 2014 draft with the questions proposed being who everyone DIDN'T want to draft with the #10 pick.

I picked Ebron. I think a LOT of people chose Ebron. It was not a popular choice amongst those on this board.

Also....one thing that has always made me so mad about the Ebron pick.....is that the guy is drafted to open things up in the middle of the field right??? Why isn't he ever used that way? How many seam routes does EE run?? Very few. It certainly isn't his fault.....he has to run the route called.....but why not try to stretch defenses with his athleticism???

Never understood that.

He does need to step up BIG in 2016. It's a very big year for him. He could make or lose MILLIONS of dollars with his performance. He needs help from the coaching staff.....using his skill set a bit better.....but the drops need to disappear and he needs to start catching some of the 50/50 balls.
