Without even signing anyone in 2014 they'd be out (notably)
- Starting TE, C, K
- Backup QB, DE, OT
While still being over the cap by a significant amount. Some of this can be fixed through the draft, but they'll still need to shed salary or restructure.
Why is Delmas's base salary jumping up so much between this year and next year?
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/detroit-lions/yearly/
Delmas contract was really a one year deal because of injury.
The Lions will not pay him his $5.5 base for 2104, they will renegotiate a longer deal or move on. He did survive the year with his knee but hardly practiced and had a so so year IMO
