Slay, Ansah, Levy negotiations open...Reiff on the fence

And I inow haloti is 31. But damn let's give the man a chance first.

As a replacement for Suh we could have done worse so no complaining from me. But to infer Ngata is the same talent as Suh is laughable. Which is what was said. So what you're suggesting "give him a chance" is not what is occurring here. So try and stay on point..thank you.

Damn there must be a shit ton of five time all pro DT's walking around. I must have not been paying attention.

There are a few young guys that look damn good.

If you have me my choice for next year he wouldn't be one of my first choices. However it was the best possible realistic option for replacing suh.

But when comparing him to the best DT in the league there is a noticeable difference. Ngata has a larger cap hit this year than suh does for the dolphins (suhs cap hit for the Lions this year is higher than Ngata however). So in 2015 we are paying more for less. Also cost us important mid rounders. Ngata is still a good pickup, but we downgraded, simple as that.

It would be like green bay going from Rodgers to Wilson. Would still have one of the better QBs, but it would be a downgrade for sure.

Suh
Dockett
Starks
Casey
Dareus
Poe
Justin Smith
Kyle Williams
McCoy
Hatcher
Atkins
Knighton

... in no particular order. All better than Ngata at 31.

And that doesn't mean Ngata is a bum. I'm damned happy to have him here. I'm excited to have him in Honolulu Blue. Just saying he's not top 10 anymore... or hasn't been the last few years.

With Austin calling the plays, I'm not going to rule against him being elite again this season.

Except for he was at one point. He made five straight all pros from 2008-2012. He isn't the same player as suh now. Suh is in his prime and ngata is probably exiting his. But when ngata was in the middle of his career he was leagues #1 for a few years. Just because he was a 3-4 nose tackle and didn't generate as many sacks doesn't mean shit,

Man some of that list is a stretch. Justin smith is a bad ass but he might be retiring. Knighton? Really? He can't carry haloti jock strap. Dockett is 33. Atkins was a beast. There are definitely some younger up and comers I'd rather have. But cmon man.

Who cares what he was 5 years ago? We're getting the 31 year old version. Like said early glad we have him but he's not Suh.

Not anymore. I never said he was. Which if you think I did. Re-read my original post. I said the only tackle spot I thought we downgraded was suh. So I admit haloti is a downgrade. At this stage in their careers.

The 30 year old version played great. You people and your age concerns. It's laughable.

Mathis and Ngata pretty much proved you wrong in 2014.

Then what are you here for? I mean why respond when it has nothing to do with "the defense is the same" discussion?

It's not about how good he is but the fact you think our defense is the same, losing Suh but gaining Ngata. Pretty simple. Have a nice day.

Any GM will tell you Ngata is still a beast. The Ravens said so too. The defense could be better in year 2 with Tulloch back and Ngata/Walker added. This is a top 5 defense. No doubt about it.

I'm sorry but what is he suppose to say. And even if he is still a beast he's like the 15th best beast, maybe. They might be top 5, no way to know but at this point at least on paper we didn't get better..And no offense but you always say we're a top 5 defense. You've been right once. And wrong several times..

Last year was the first and only time I said we would be a top 5 defense. It's clear this team is still loaded with defensive and offenisve talent. The offense will be top 5 too. Year 2 and health.

He wasn't 15th best, Ngata is a top 5 DT too. He's a very very good player. He will surely be a huge asset for us. People get way too caught up in the player rankings too. Ngata is going to make a ton of plays for us, same with Ansah and Levy and Tulloch and Slay and Mathis and Quin. And all those plays put together will lead to a top 5 defense.

You said we had a better defense than Seattle did in 2013. So it wasn't the only time..

I said we had Seattle talent. Which we did and that showed in 2014 with the proper coaching and proper health.

We didn't though, not in 2013. Is that why you say we have talent to win a SB so in 2028 you can say we did and you're right? The boy who cried wolf..read it, understand it, live it.
