Sources: NCAA investigating Michigan football for alleged rule violations related to

Have been paying pretty much zero attention to any of this.

EDIT:

Like for example - who the F is this guy? And who gives an F about what he has to say?

He makes some half hour YouTube video about his opinion about a situation at Michigan football that maybe 1 tenth of one percent of the population of the Earth cares about?and does anybody who isn?t him care about his YouTube video?

Does he make any money with his YouTube video?

He spent a half hour of his life making it.

Seems like a waste of time to me.

Just a little background on Isaiah Hole

Former Michigan football beat writer, photographer, videographer and social media manager for 247Sports
Holly, Michigan, United States

Publisher, WolverinesWire
USA TODAY Sports Media Group

Beat writer and team insider covering University of Michigan sports.

After graduating from the University of Michigan with a Screen Arts and Cultures degree, with a focus on film production, I worked on the business side of the Hollywood entertainment industry. Deciding I needed a change, I moved back to my home of Michigan to be closer to family.

Okay thanks.

I still don?t care, except I do wonder if anyone pays him to do his YouTube channel.

Thamel was reporting that NCAA investigators were on campus interviewing staff today. Webb and Angelique Chenglis (both more plugged-into Michigan than most people) reported that was bullshit. Coaches went out on recruiting trips immediately following practice this afternoon.

Thamel is the same guy who got taken for a ride over the Manti Teo story, and then posted whiny "How could I have been fooled?" kinda stories to cover his ass. He's the very definition of Yellow Journalism.

Actual journalists ask questions and attempt to poke holes in a story, instead of running with every rumor that's (intentionally) given to them.

The problem with all these accusations is they have attached to Michigan as cheaters. People will identify Michigan football as cheaters whenever Michigan football is mentioned.

I know those are the haters, but it?s still not a good attachment to the program. We (you/I and this forum) know the truth and will be defending that tag for years to come if in fact there is no offence.

No, but there's nothing we can do about it.

Look, a large subset of MSU fans, OSU fans, and ND fans will say ANYTHING about Michigan. THere are some Spartans here constantly running their mouths... and it doesn't matter that they're proven wrong on an almost weekly basis. THey're back the next day with a new story on why we're "not as good as we think," or "Harbaugh is gone after this season," or "Michigan is trash/second rate/bad school/'maybe I didn't get in but wouldn't have wanted to go anyway, so there'"... Point is, they'll never shut the fuck up, and that says more about them than Michigan.

These allegations give people like that a megaphone to amplify what they'd be saying anyways. Just ignore them and keep doing what we were doing (winning by a lot), and eventually it will blow over, because there's nothing to it. These allegations are bullshit. Anyone can say anything; words are cheap.

To be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program that pays ad share revenue you have to have 1k+ subscribers and 4k hours watched of your videos in the past 12 months. If he wasn't getting paid before he certainly will now. He's got the subs, that video has over 16k views so that's likely to take him over the hours on its own.

just heard on XM that TCU knew about the sign stealing so they used dummy signals. Maybe the sign stealing cost UM a shot at the national championship game?

Every team uses decoy signs. No, the two pick sixes, the failed first drive, and the fumble lost that game

There are lots of people that make careers or second careers by blogging/podcasting about their favorite team or teams. Some are losers who failed their way into it, and others are legitimately good. Others have day jobs & do the sports thing for fun.

I haven't read enough of Isaiah Hole's stuff to judge him one way or the other, but I have heard of him. I don't typically watch youtube videos unless there's some extenuating circumstance, like when I want to see what a coach actually said about something and youtube is the only place to find it.

There are a handful of Michigan twitterers/podcasters/youtubers I'd consider failures who should just be ignored at this point, and he's not one of them.

I would think that Harbaugh and the University (and other universities that the NCAA has named in this mess) should be able to sue the NCAA for defamation. It would be pro gangster if Harbaugh takes down the NCAA instead of the other way around which is their goal

I think the University is too much a part of the beast to sue it; we're also too decent, and make too much money to take the "burn it all down" approach, but you can tell Harbaugh wants to fight them.

I was also going to say, not to draw politics into this, but just as an example, the "DRIP... DRIP... DRIP..." nature of the leaks that generates a new shocking headline each day and keeps the story going across multiple daily/weekly news cycles? That's a hallmark of a propaganda campaign, not an actual investigation. Same thing the intelligence agencies did to Trump, FWIW.

He has multiple sponsors and probably collects a small amount from Youtube. From what I gathered his net worth is estimated at $17 million.

Sam Webb said yesterday that he thinks it's 50/50 Jim is here next year. I really hope this doesn't derail the extension that Bacon reported should be completed by "the end of the month" 2-3 weeks ago. But he did say he hasn't heard anything from his sources about the extension which makes him think UM is going to wait for this to play out before doing anything. Which is ridiculous, that was their reason for not extending him this past offseason. They can't allow the NCAA/OSU to have that much influence on how they run their program.

defamation?

That would be pretty gangster if harbaugh and a program facing investigation for multiple rules violations brings down the NCAA. Personally, I think it?s NIL and the super conferences that will be the death of the NCAA, but if it?s a dirty program that does it, that would be way more gangster.

so much BS coming out... Buckeye fans and wannabe sports flacks claiming stuff like the regents are meeting to discuss firing Harbaugh after the season, and then one of the actual regents tweeting and mocking all that.

It seems a lot of rival fans REALLY want Jim gone.

Ignore anything that's not coming from Webb or M Go Blow. They've essentially been asking people within the program to verify every national story that's come out. Webb is getting into the weeds on who/why when that's kinda irrelevant at this point, but he has followed up on pretty much every daily drip and debunked a lot of it. The one thing I will say about the who is that it's abundantly clear that this is a coordinated hit piece against the program and the circumstancial evidence pointing at OSU is very compelling.

Most recently Sam debunked the WSJ story about Michigan rescinding an extension offer and said that was a flat out lie. Says they were good with salary and just negotiating assistant pool, NIL and jet time. He did say that the optimism around getting the extension done during the season has dipped.

Michigan Haters are doing all they can to create distraction for the team in hopes of bringing them down. OSU knows that they will lose again this year and so will do whatever it takes to taint the win and to make it so if Michigan wins the NC the talk will be about "sign stealing" rather than what a great team Michigan had. That is the real scandal that needs to be investigated! I hope the guys can keep their focus and play through this adversity. One game at a time. GO BLUE!

the media is what is driving this story. UM is at the top of the mountain right now. When you are at the top, people try to take you down. I don't think OSU gives two shits about this story. Most people don't.

reading this was irritating.

How the fuck does ESPN publish this as a serious piece of journalism? They're not reporting on the situation at all, they just literally gave a bunch of coaches license to hate on Michigan, 6 people quoted anonymously for this article (one of the 6 said it was no big deal.)

Make these cowards go on the record if they want to slag Michigan. What are they afraid of? They know it will end up on a fucking bulletin board, but want to take shots and ESPN indulges them. That's journalistic malpractice.

The article cited a couple others on the record (including Jim Knowles) who all basically say everyone does it (Knowles said 75% of teams do) and has been for years. and so coaches are negligent if they operate assuming the other team hasn't stolen their signs.

That's pretty telling that there's a stark divide in opinion on this between the whiners who hide behind anonymity and those willing to go on the record.
