THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers
The Saturday Survey offers another readers the opportunity to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our baseball-lovin? and starvin? and pleadin? for the crack of the bat peeps.
Today, we center the discussion on Riley Greene and how he should be handled this season when it comes to his place on the 60-man roster.
As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons (4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!
Riley Greene became a member of the Tigers? 60-man squad so that he could continue his training despite the cancellation of the minor league season.
In 2019, he rocketed through 3 of Detroit?s minor league teams (ending in A level). He is only 19.
The Tigers have him listed as a RF, however Al Avila talks about him playing CF. During Spring Training 2.0, Riley has been playing a lot of LF. During the past 2 weeks, he?s made at least 3 highlight reel-worthy catches, even catching the eye of Mike Trout.
Out of 8 outfielders, he currently holds the best slash line.
If Greene were to make the Opening Day roster, his service time clock (and MLB minimum salary) would start, however, if the Tigers waited a mere 7 games before adding him, that clock would not start this year. The same is to be said of the taxi squad which would offer him potentially regular call-ups to Detroit with the benefit of an owner-friendly minor-league salary and no service time accrued.
Please participate in the survey in order to convey where you stand on Riley Greene and in what manner you feel he should be used this season.
What should the Tigers do with Riley?
1. Put him on the Opening Day roster.
2. Wait 7 days before naming him to the roster.
3. Name him to the taxi squad and keep him working out in Toledo.
4. Name him to the taxi squad but call him up to Detroit at least 2/x.
5. Not sure.
Vote.
