Stafford

Seems like a problem that's been there forever. Seems like most of Staffords ints go to linebackers or players dropping into coverage. He never sees them

Focused on Cavlin. DE dropped really really deep and made a great catch.

What made it a "great catch?" The fact that it was thrown right to him in stride? That he used both hands? That nobody was even close to him when he picked it off?

It was a poor play by Stafford call it what it is. The best he could have hoped for was it bounced off the guy's hands or helmet. He certainly performed better afterwards.

He's a DE dropping in coverage. Most would drop that. It was a great catch by Branch. Stafford said so too.

It was a poor play but also a great catch by a DE.

Once again people assuming what I think. It's a poor play. I never said it wasn't.

K, LKP, at least you admitted it was a poor throw.

No but you're trying to mitigate how poor it was with your language. Who cares if he made a "great catch?" That doesn't make it any better of a play on Stafford's part if he had dropped it. He deserved to get picked off on that one.

That defensive end is only 265 pounds and apparently they trust him enough to have him drop back in coverage. He must have at least adequate hands/ball skills. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Still doesn't matter either way. Bad play, but Stafford corrected himself for the most part. It is that type of inconsistency that causes worry with fans like me though.

It's a DE like 10 yards back dropping in coverage. It is not an easy catch. I'm not mitigating anything. It can be both a poor play and great catch. You are assuming what I'm thinking again. It's a terrible play by Stafford but still a great catch.

And Stafford rebounded really well after that.

I can't help but assume given your track record :) But fine I don't disagree with anything you said here.

Stafford is blind when it comes to players dropping into coverage.

I get that it's the preseason. Just expressing our annoyance with LKPs typical fanboy comments. Question: What happened on Staffords int? I see it was a defensive end that picked him off, but have not seen what happened.

I was right in front of the play. The defender came out of nowhere. CJ looked wide open...

Two different run options. Stafford checked to the perfect one.

Good to see. His football intelligence has always been high, I think the previous regime did a disservice by not given him more freedom.

What still had me worried is his weaknesses are the same weaknesses he had coming out of college. I'm hoping this staff can coach some of that out of him, not a large sample size yet, but still seeing a few to many old habits. However not sure I've seen the unnecessary side arm throw yet, that is a good thing.

I'll let the INT slide because it was CJ's first day back, and they probably wanted to get him some catches. Once he came out and got his catch's Stafford was fine.

I like that they gave Ebron credit for a key block on the play. Thought he couldn't block to save his life? That's encouraging.

I agree with that. Calvin was open and then the DE just kept dropping. But still bad to focus on Calvin.

Do you even watch the game tape? The play was called for the complete opposite side and Bush cut it back. Good job reggie.

That was the play call you idiot. That was where the hole was and Ebron and Ogletree did a great job. You can clearly see Ebron sealing two guys. That is where the run was supposed to go. Stafford gets credit for the audible.

Designed cutback for a back like Reggie Bush. No way that's in the playbook, lol

Haha exactly. Hughes just trying to hate. You can tell by how Ebron blocks that was the design of the play.

Now Stafford gets credit again for calling one of two possible plays? Dan Orlovsky could have gone out there and done that. So could a high school QB. It's not even worth mentioning. Save your praise for where Stafford actually deserves it.

"Even though it's clearly run blocking for both the good and bad plays and the RB for the good and the bad."

Your words...it's the execution of the play that deserves the credit. And I do agree that the play was run as designed. Looked like a counter or cutback run.
