Get StartedStaffords a bitch...take less and build a team. Like Tom Brady!
Or take almost the same deal Carr did and call it a day. Although I agree with you on this, an NFL qb only has such a long shelf life that they have to make as much as they can and when they can, therefore i cannot blame Stafford for wanting to get paid, he has pretty much earned it.

Come on, there is no way he has earned it. How has he earned 25m plus? I get that people like him and think he's a good QB but holy shit that's a lot of money.. And it's going to get worse with NFL players saying they should be paid like an NBA player.
He's earned every penny he's going to get.
Nope. There is never a time where he should earn more than Tom Brady.
He's earned every penny he's going to get.
I'm not sure how you can say he's earned every penny of that. He's a career 86.8 rated QB that's never put together a full season. To say he's earned every penny he's going to get seems silly.
We are going are giving him his 3rd contract based on hope yet again. We are hoping that the first 10/11 games of 2016 was the new real Stafford. This guy has made a shit load of money on arm strength, potential, likability, and regular season comebacks.
Personally I don't see the rush to get a deal done this year. Cap has gone up a crazy amount the last few years. Teams are spending like crazy. As soon as we see a year with low cap increase I believe we see a market correction. Which may not impacts QBs as much as other positions, but I don't think we will get to 30 million per year for a QB. I think it will cap around 25-26.
If negotiations sour, you franchise him, get 1 year at 26.4 million, which isn't that much more than the 25 million per he could get now.
Brian Hoyer, Glennon, Stafford - still no playoff wins. At least with Hoyer and Glennon we will have some top 5 picks and really build the defense up.
The defense is built up. Loads of talent. Robinson, Ansah, Ngata, Hyder/Washington, Slay, Quin, Davis, Lawson/Tabor, Diggs/Hayden, Killebrew, Whitehead at OLB, Williams/Worrilow, Hill/Spence/Bryant
Love this defense.
Also if the Lions have a top 5 picks. They pay more to that pick. Solomon Thomas got 7 per. Davis got 2.5 per
So yeah we could pay 5 per less on a lesser "good QB" but if we have a top 5 pick, we lose the cap space anyway.
And Davis could be a better player than Thomas.
You want a top 5 pick. How about Greg Robinson

Yeah dude, then we can be like the Houston Texans! Woohoo!
What's the difference? Plus we're already the Texans. Playoffs now and then but no wins.
There is a difference between the Texans and the Lions. The Texans have 2 playoff wins in the past 25 years...of course the franchise has only been around for 15 years.
Idk how you can watch last years defense be one of the worst in almost every category that is important and say it's built up because we added like 2 rookies. Robinson and Killebrew better be gods. We added no pass rush to a league worst in sacks. But I suppose the new camp fodder we added will magically transform themselves this year into All Pro's. I like our offense if it stays healthy. That is about it.
