Suh contract

Suh has come out and said he loves playing for Austin...atleast that's a move in the right direction. Doesn't have a ton to do with anything if the guy is just looking for the spotlight or to start a bidding war....but atleast he likes playing here.

Who the heck is our 3rd/4th corner right now anyways? Bentley, Lawson, Gorrer, Couplin...all gone. Guess I haven't really noticed whos been coming in at dime/nickel. Vaughn they must think is finally back to 100% healthy.

Pretty sure it's Vaughn and Seisay. Some how, some way I think Suh will remain a Lion. And his reason for staying will be Austin.

I can't imagine someone staying for a coordinator.
If Austin continues to have a defense play at this level he will start getting some looks for head coach. Considering he is black, he will at least get some interviews.

I haven't been thinking Suh would stay for well over a year now, I still don't think he will.

We have some incentive to keep him beyond his on field play. He counts 9 mil against the cap.

Once were done with this situation we have the same exact situation in 2016 with calvin.

I called this as a top 5 defense and Seattle-esque (best in the league). Clearly I was right and saw the potential before the season.

And several posters have called you a dumbass over the years...clearly they were right.

I imagine the cap will increase a bit before 2016. Also, if Suh is gone it will probably be a bit easier to manage Calvin/Stafford by then.

My concern isn't Calvin/Stafford though. I'm worried about Ansah/Levy. Lock those fuckers up until 2020 please.

We can fit Suh even at 16 million per. Cap committments and draft pick cap will not be that bad to hinder us from getting Suh. At worst you cut Bush, Tulloch and Jason Jones to keep Suh due to the play of Riddick, Whitehead/Van Noy and George Johnson/Taylor/ability to draft a DE.

It's all about the Lions willingness not ability to give out that much to Suh and also what market Suh wants to be in. Winning and him liking Austin is helping big time though.

Exactly. If locking up Ansah and Levy.....and possibly Slay if he continues to get better.....means losing Suh.......I'm all for it.

Slay signed through 2016 season, Ansah 5th year option for 2017. Levy is the guy we need to worry about. He is signed through 2015, FA in 2016. And Suh's dead money done after 2015 so it's very manageable.

I've said it plenty, and I'll say it again...

Sign a guy like Raji on a cheaper deal, and you're a solid 3-4 defense under two coaches more comfortable in the 3-4... Austin and Caldwell.

Losing Suh and Fairley may actually help the Lions D, and it certainly frees up cap room for other positions.

I'm all for the 3-4. Been wanting it for years..

im sure Austin could pull Terrence cody from Baltimore for super cheap. also a FA.

Don't underestimate Suh's contribution. There would be no Ansah without Suh and no Slay without Ansah and so on. Literally the whole defense is built off Suh taking on 3 guys.
