I was watching a Piston game and The difference maker was at it and after the game he was standing next to Drummond.. Holy crap he looked small next to the free throw clanker.

Get StartedHindsight is 20/20. What a beautiful thing it is.
I love how we have to create some kind of Bizzaro universe scenario where Mayhew actually got a pick right to highlight how bad someone is for always saying he is wrong.
Its not hindsight dude....even a moron like you had like 20 posts painting a perfectly clear picture of what we'd get if we drafted him. So ya....mayhew is dumber than morons.
11-5. You would go 0-16 every year hughes as GM. Leave the football moves to the big boys like Mayhew.
Tell you what, if the Lions don't win a playoff game this year, I think those big boys making the decisions need to be wiped from the office.
The way that the Suh thing was handled could be the last straw if the team doesn't do much this year.
Was the Suh situation mishandled if he just didn't want to be a Lion anymore?
It was mishandled. If not for all the restructuring, they could have afforded a comfortable franchise tag... which would have paid him a lot of money to stay one more year.
But Mayhew said Suh wanted to be here

Miami offered him 2 million dollars a year more than Detroit, 12 million overall, in a state with no income tax. This tells me absolutely nothing about whether he liked Detroit or not. This tells me nothing about whether he liked the team or not.
12 million dollars is a huge deal. Miami has a lot better weather than Michigan. Even if he did like the Lions better than the Dolphins, the Lions didn't step up to the plate. If we hear a report that Mayhew matched Miami's offer and Suh still left, then I'll accept he just wanted out. But until that point, quick b***hing like Suh owes the team anything. Loyalty goes both ways, or it doesn't matter at all.
The failing there is that you can't match the income tax. In his bracket and based on the figures reported it's going to be in the 20-25 million dollar range.
Remember you can shelter a lot of federal taxes. Hell, smart accountants can get a guy making Suh kind of money a refund if they do things right.
But state taxes are straight income tax. Breaks are hard to find and when you do its like hundreds not millions.
That's exactly my point. Suh would be giving up a huge amount to stay with Detroit. Even if he loved the city and team, it would be dumb to be throwing away tens of millions of dollars. He's only going to be playing football for another 5-10 years anyway.
