The Official Army vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

You mean IF Dylan had broken his collar game 3 games into the season last year?

Michigan would've probably went 5-7 or something and that would've seriously hurt recruiting.

Or

Do you mean IF Dylan had miraculously stayed healthy all season even though he got hurt in his mop-up duty last season? Dude was seriously underweight last season. He would not have held up, then Milton would've been getting the experience.

I'd rather not watch Michigan lose. Losing more is never good.

My guess is that Michigan would still be 2-0 at this point this season. I don't know, though, because I haven't seen Dylan pass the ball. Patterson's passing hasn't been great, but he has completed enough passes to make Michigan 2-0.

Michigan still held their own in recruiting, even when they had abysmal years under Hoke and RR. That's never been the issue with this team.

Yeah I'm not sure about the weight thing. Right now, he's 3 inches taller than Patterson and 20 lbs heavier. So assuming he added 20 lbs of muscle in the off-season, he was still probably around the same dimensions as Patterson last year. There are plenty of skinny kids in football. Maybe he gets hurt, maybe not.

I just don't care for not developing and trusting the own guys you have. Patterson and/or Milton are guys that are going to be (hopefully) your starters down the road. This just delays the process.

This is the part that is frustrating to me. Milton is probably going to transfer after this season and DM is going to be going into next year with very little experience. I'd rather see them develop the guys they recruited and stop bringing in transfers. Ruddock made sense because of the transition and the fact that Hoke failed to recruit anyone other than Morris. I also hate that guys like Speight and Peters seemed to get worse from one year to the next.

They've got a ton of talent in the QB room and they are getting a top tier guy seemingly every year. They are pissing it away spending time on guys who only have 1-2 years of eligibility instead of taking advantage of the guys who have 3-4 years to develop.

Doesn't Michigan have a QB coach this year? Granted it has only been two games, but it doesn't look like there has been any improvement.

That's my understanding. If there is a clear recovery by the defense they get the ball at that spot but anything after that never happened. It makes sense, it just sucks when they blow it dead instead of letting it play out. I get that they need to try their best to get it right the first time since they have to have definitive proof to overturn it. They screwed up and it damn near cost them the game. I'd be willing to bet that if they get that right michigan kicks the field goal instead of going for it in the red zone and it's a 10 point regulation win instead of a 2 ot 3 point win and they may not have been penalized in the rankings as much.

Yeah, no way the play should have been blown dead. No one had clear possession of the ball until Mettelus picked it up. Ball could have been recovered by Army if they had let it play out.

Let's put in McNamara!! He's the future!

Why waste time with Milton, McCaffrey, and Patterson?

The point is, the entire deal with getting Patterson was dumb. You bring in this super highly touted kid that you recruit. In today's CFB, you don't need to be a junior or senior to be elite. Play the kid, develop him and Milton and go from there. Stop with this whole stop gap thing that Harbaugh seems to be doing. Trust your scouts, trust the recruiting, and roll with it.

McCaffery and Milton's confidence is probably shot at this point. Dylan gets thrown in for a play and then yanked right back out. Milton's not going to stick around, and I would guess Dylan is pretty irritated with the program about now.

I agree totally!!! There was no reason to get Patterson.

We have (high 4*)McNamara and 5* JJ McCarthy in the wings. If Milton leaves we'll be fine. Both very accurate QBs that dont just have rockets for arms.

Maybe, unless JH finds some other transfer to poach and further stunt the development.

This is 100% conjecture with no basis other than you projecting frustration on to McCaffrey. There is nothing out there to say he's "irritated" at all.

We need a thread that?s like snapchat... where fans can post their frustrations, but the posts automatically disappear after a day or so.

Kinda like screaming into a cave or something to vent.

That way if someone posts actual interesting team news based on statistics, facts or statements from players and coaches, we don?t have to sift through endless personal opinions and complaints based on ?feelings? to find them.

It's no different than when Rich Rod got canned and fans asserted that Shoelace was going to leave because of the Hoke offense. There was nothing to it ...just an assumption. Everything I've read and heard as a Denver-based fan in terms of coverage of Dylan McCaffrey is that he loves Michigan. Remember also that he's one of FOUR McCaffrey bros and while Christian is an NFL star, another brother never caught on after graduating from Duke and the youngest is now at Nebraska. Having two parents with Stanford degrees and athletic backgrounds gives perspective to things.

and learn to spell his name, Dubbs and everyone else that for some reason can't get it right!!!

but is McCaffery frustrated??

That's what I meant when I posted about how I wished he had a different name. A lot of fans see his name and think all Harbaugh has to do is line him up under center and he'll turn into his Christian.

Frustrated by lack of playing time? Dylan is like the eldest Max in terms of size whereas Christian takes after Mom in stature. I don't think any of the kids are expecting to go pro but if so, all will have great degrees from great schools (aside from the youngest Luke at Nebraska). If Shea finishes out this season and Dylan can't beat out Milton for the job then maybe he does transfer, but I'd expect him to stay and have Milton start seeing PT like Dylan has the past two seasons.

MC Caff free

It's so easy!!

Milton and McNamara will transfer after Harbaugh starts JJ in 2021 lol

Probably. He'll go find some other program to find a grad transfer and further stunt development of the guys he has recruited.
