The Official Round 1 Draft Thread

Per Rotoworld:

An NFC regional scout said members of his team were "a little turned off" by Minnesota tight end Maxx Williams.
"That Minnesota tight end came across as all about himself from what people in our room said. They were a little turned off by him," the scout said. Of course, one could choose to perceive this news positively, as Williams' on-field confidence is one reason that he's considered a borderline first-rounder. "While we weren't in the rooms during interviews, we understand that there is a fine line between arrogance and confidence," wrote NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein. "However, almost every team would rather default to a player with ego over a player lacking confidence. We contacted one general manager to get his take and he had no problems with his interview with Williams, but he didn't think Williams' workout went as well as he expected." Williams, who measured in to Indy at 6-foot-4 and 249 pounds, ran an official 4.77 seconds in the forty-yard dash. He fared better in other drills, clocking an impressive 4.37 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle and a 3"

Looks like it was Maxx Williams, but probably nothing that hurts his value.
Good look ink. I thought it was but probably won't effect much. Still more likely a2nd round pick.

I would still risk the pick on La'el Collins. Cops say he isn't a suspect and he voluntarily went to talk to the cops on the biggest day of his life.

Agreed, but with his agent admitting he's "undraftable" at this point, don't take him in the first. He should still be there in the mid rounds.

The agent actually said all 32 teams took him off their boards. Wow.

Armstead and peters are both weird picks to me. Good upside but maybe reaches at this point.

I'd draft him in the mid rounds and not expect one thing for a year.....if he never comes back....oh well......if he does....great pick

That's surprising. But people are definitely really nervous about drafting someone who won't be there. I didn't think it was going to effect him at first because i thought he want considered involved.

Until the cops "formally" clear him, no one is willing to risk it.

scrolling across the screen, it says the NFL rejects Collins request to be in the Supp draft. IMO, go with Brown here in the 1st and take Collins in the 2nd. Even if he is found to be a suspect, we could just not sign him, right? And then we'd get an extra pick next year? Or am I misremembering the rules?

Looks like the Browns might really be on Johnny football's bandwagon. They'll need the line to be strong with him back there running around.

We wouldn't get the extra pick for not signing him if it's our choice. If he fails a medical or something, or holds out, we get a pick.

One round lower I think.

Erving is an interesting pick but i actually don't hate the Cleveland picks this year.

But if he's indicted? I would think that would justify us not signing him.

Not sure. Hard to say how the NFL views that.

Remember, they refused to give Kraft a break against the cap for Hernandez too.

They got Josh McCown. Johnny won't see the field in Cleveland.

But if we took at 23, for example, we'd get the pick in the 2nd round, 53 or maybe a sup.. No benefit imo.

Me either. Biggest disappointment of the draft not being able to poke fun at them.
Haha right. I think neither of them are star material but they are both going to be consistent. That's what you need when you pick the lines. Give me guys who will show up every play and that's what they got.
