The Official "The Ga][V][e" Ga][V][e Thread

2 things.......1)the so called first down. Whatever the spot may be, it was an important enough play that it should have been measured. That was complete and utter bullshit that it was not. If they missed it by one inch, the game is over and we ar on cloud nine. 2) because of the ineptness of Harbaugh and the offense, the defense was completely gassed on that play with Samuels. They were on he field the whole 4th. As far as im concerned, Harbaugh should be and probably is pissed at himself for turtling in the 4th.

I almost feel like we had to call it conservative. Wilton wasn't playing like himself, fumbling snaps, falling down while handing off, throwing bad picks. He was melting down. What do you do in that scenario?

In overtime they start on the 25 so the 1st down is the 15 which is a solid yard line. All they have to do is touch the line on the spot and it's a first.

So do they not measure in college anymore? Am I missing something? Its not like crossing then goal line as far as I know. The ball has to travel a full 10 yards. Not 9yds and 35 inches. Is there a rule somewhere? Serious question

You don't have to cross the goal line to score.

The ball gets spotted at the 25(a solid line) so you need to get to the 15(also a solid line). You don't need the chain to measure the obvious.

Listen closely, when the ball is placed where it is placed like it was today. It looked like from one angle that it was NOT touching the line. Another angle makes it look like it is just touching. In that case you FUCKING measure. Angles play tricks and this why we measure for important first downs.

I can't explain it any clearer. Sorry you're not getting it.

This is what I don't get. The point where forward progress was stopped looked questionable, so I thought surely they would bring out the chains.

Ha ha!! watching the Utah-Colorado game a what do we have here? An important first down. Refs said no, the coach from CU said, "measure it." They went out with the chains and they missed by an inch. CU gains 1st on next play. Man, im sick n tired of being right.

We all know it was a bad spot. There is no doubt that it was. I don't blame the replay official for it. If they would have overturned that spot, that place would have made a riot look like a picnic.

It should have been called right from the start, I am sure more than 1 ref had a look. Home cooking IMO.

Yeah, this is what I was wondering about...

Was I the only one who saw the official pat Weber's ass in regulation?

It was early in the game and I am too lazy to look back....

Really, I thought the odds were just about 60 - 40 in the Buckeyes favor, given 1) on the road 2) very good Buckeye team 3) Michigan QB situation.

Maybe the QB situation factored in; maybe Speight had the fuckups because of his injuries.

Most of the socalled experts were picking Ohio State for basically the same reasons.

Naturally, I watched the game hoping it would be the 40% of the time Michigan would win.

So Michigan did better than I expected, I guess - so maybe that's why I'm so bummed to have seen them come closer than I really expected, only to come up just short.

Shit.

Same with me. Expected osu to win but now disappointed as we had a chance and let down

Agree with those identifying playcalling and our own mistakes including the unsportsmanlike penalty in Harbaugh

That didn't matter much.

The Buckeyes were going to score anyway.

That spot would have been right on the 15 yard marker based on the referees errant call.

So the chains would have simply confirmed a call that was incorrect in the first place.

Although it would have been normal procedure...but anyway...

I think Deputy Sheriff Lost Leader had a point...with those wack jobs down in Columbus, there could have been a public safety issue if the call had been reversed...
