Tigers 2024-2025 Offseason: Trades, Free Agents, Call ups, Rule 5, tender, non-tender, Awards

Imo, JV will dominate this season. 1 bad season and suddenly everyone forgets he's a HOF pitcher.
I don't think anyone is forgetting that he is a HOF pitcher. They are remembering that he is going to be 42 at the beginning of the season. I believe that father time has caught up with JV

Evan Petzold explains the unexpected signing of second baseman Gleyber Torres and what has changed for the Detroit Tigers.

At 40 he was really good. Some guys just have it and put father time on pause. Plus, a 1 year deal for 15 mill - I rather have JV than Cobb.

ok, so at 40 he was good. That was 2 years ago. Unless he found the fountain of youth, he isn't going to get better. I would rather have the 37 year old, but really don't want either.

Age doesn't mean a whole lot. Esp. 37 to 42. I figure if someone can pitch good at age 40 they can pitch good at 42. We basically talked a guy out of retirement to come pitch for us.

like I said, I don't want either. But the writing is on the wall for JV. He was terrible last year. As a rule, 42 year old pitchers don't get better, they get worse.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.
Totally Tigers

Kenny Rogers pitched pretty well for us in his 40's.

Also, JV dealt with injuries this year that played into his numbers. He was good the year before and won the cy young 2 years ago. I'd much rather have him than a guy that we talked out of retirement.

SP Tarik Skubal and the Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a one-year, $10.15 million contract to avoid arbitration.

Jake Rogers and Tigers agree on $2.64 million contract for 2025, avoiding arbitration. Confirming report from
Robert Murray.
Catchers made $3.3M/fWAR last year. So as long as he continues his 2.2-2.5 fWAR, it's a steal. Especially if the power returns.

Matt Vierling and the Tigers agreed to a deal worth $3.005 million for 2025.

Casey Mize and Tigers agree on $2.34 million contract for 2025, avoiding arbitration. Confirming report from
Mark Feinsand.

Tigers came to terms with two relievers.
Will Vest will earn $1.4 million in 2025.
Jason Foley will make $3.15 million.
Both are free agents in 2028.
