Coaching Staffs.
Mike Rabelo and Andrew Graham will return as managers in the Detroit Tigers minor-league system, the club announced.
The list of minor-league coaching assignments was released Tuesday.
Many of the assignments have been previously announced or reported.
Triple-A Toledo: Manager Tom Prince will take over for Doug Mientkiewicz, who was not retained for 2020. Pitching coach Juan Nieves and hitting coach Mike Hessman are back for the second season with the Mud Hens.
Double-A Erie: Mike Rabelo will return for his second season at the helm. He previously managed at Lakeland, West Michigan and Connecticut. Mark Johnson returns for his second season as pitching coach. Adam Melhuse is the new hitting coach, replacing Brian Harper. Melhuse was previously a coach in the Los Angeles Dodgers system.
Class A (advanced) Lakeland: Andrew Graham returns for his second consecutive season at Lakeland and third overall. He has been in the Tigers system since 2010 and has previously managed at Connecticut, West Michigan and Erie. Pitching coach Jorge Cordova will return for a second season. He was previously pitching coach at West Michigan. Bill Springman, who was hitting coach in Connecticut in 2019, will be the Flying Tigers? hitting coach in 2020. He replaces Tim Garland, who will now be a coach in the Gulf Coast League.
Class A West Michigan: Brayan Pena will take the helm of the Whitecaps after previously managing in rookie ball and Connecticut. Former manager Lance Parrish will move into a front office role. Willie Blair will return as pitching coach for a second year. John Murrian is the new hitting coach, replacing John Vander Wal. Murrian, who spent six years as Tigers bullpen catcher, was a hitting coach in the Gulf Coast League in 2019.
