An updated look at the Detroit Tigers 2020 payroll salary table, including active salaries, bonuses, statuses, retained & dead payments, minor/non-roster players, and team totals.

$31M come off the books in 2021. $25M for Zimmerman and $6M for Prince Fielder. Let's see how the young starting pitchers develop. I would like the Tigers to make sound acquisitions...please, don't over pay with long contracts. I would rather they overpay in terms of AAV than some of these stupid 6-10 year contracts.

Bless You Boys Tigers Blog Podcast 65: We?ll be your Tigerfest this winter
The BYB staff talks baseball from a Tigers perspective. 70 minutes.

BYB staff writers/editors Brandon Day and Ashley MacLennan are back after the holiday break, and there is much to discuss.

We?ll tackle the weirdness surrounding the Tigers decision to end the winter version of Tigerfest in favor of doing in July, and why that seems like a terrible idea poorly communicated.

General Manager Al Avila still isn?t happy with the job fans are doing and issued his bi-yearly complaint session on Thursday.

The Tigers did reinvest their Nick Castellanos savings in a few solid stopgap players this offseason and we?re reasonably happy with their choices.

The club also brought back reliever Alex Wilson, who resumed graduate studies in psychology last year and will function part-time as the Pitcher Whisperer.

And finally we?ll discuss Dan Dickerson?s fanpost on the baseball itself, the juiced ball era, and the league?s failing credibility on this and other issues.

How the worst team in American League history became pennant winners in 3 seasons.
Could the current Tigers repeat the success of 2006 within three years?
BYBTB

Now THAT was a very refreshing article. It reasonably suggested that the current Detroit Tiger organization has a very good start regarding their farm system prospects ..and with a few trades and FA signings could honestly hope to become competitive by 2021 ..and possibly become a serious World Series contender by 2023.

The author deliberately took the time to seek out and focus upon positive potential instead of drifting off into negative oblivion.
So, just like the author of that article did ..any person can seek out reasons for optimism if that were truly their goal.

THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Saturday Survey offers another way for readers to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our baseball-lovin? peeps.

As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons ( 4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

The Tigers have signed C. J. Cron, Jonathan Schoop and Austin Romine to 1-year contracts for 2020. Please participate in the following survey so we can determine how they will make a difference.

How will the addition of them compare with the team we saw in 2019?

1. The on-the-field product will be better.

2. The on-the-field product will be the same.

3. The on-the-field product will be worse.

4. Don?t know/not sure.

5. Other.
