Hall, 26, has a 9.48 ERA in 31.1 MLB innings. That belies the swing-and-miss stuff he?s demonstrated, both in the majors and high minors. In a pair of Triple-A seasons, working mostly as a starter, Hall has racked up 10.3 K/9 against 3.2 BB/9. Hall?s 23.9% career MLB strikeout rate isn?t quite at that level, but it is still slightly better than average. Most encouragingly, the 26-year-old has 96th percentile curveball spin, per Statcast. He comes with two option years, so he?ll give Boston some flexible left-handed relief depth.

Nunez, 25, re-signed with Boston on a minor-league deal in November. He?s spent all seven of his pro seasons in their farm since signing as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic in 2012. Nunez had a career-best showing at Double-A Portland in 2019, hitting .280/.333/.412 in 233 plate appearances. That dwarfs his cumulative .254/.325/.345 line in the minors. He?ll be with the Tigers as a non-roster invitee in MLB spring training, the team announced.

Tigers SRD Podcast Episode 304-Don?t Hit The Buzzer. 68 minutes.
TMLR

-The show kicks off with some movie discussion about Ford vs Ferrari and 1917 (3:35-14:45)

-The Tigers non-roster invites including Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Zack Godley, among others. (14:45-20:00)

-The Ivan Nova signing was good one (20:00-24:00)

-Good to hear Gerson Moreno is back in camp (24:10-25:30)

-Talking catcher depth with the trade for Eric Hasse. (25:35-31:14)

-Manager firings (31:34-34:24)

-Full blown Twitter madness (35:00-38:50)

Is Ivan related to the one-hit wonder Aldo "Fantasy" Nova?

Ivan made nearly $20M pitching for the Pirates and Sox over the past two seasons, quite the steep drop to $1.5 base with the Tigers, he is an innings-eater, but likely with little if any chance of being worthwhile trade-bait @ the deadline next July.

WOULD YOU RATHER?
Totally Tigers

With another holiday weekend upon us, let?s have some more fun with our newest blog, Would You Rather.
As you will see, the choices aren?t easy ? and that?s the way it?s meant to be. But it is meant to stir up some good discussion.

As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons ( 4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

Would you rather....
1. Have a new owner immediately who doesn?t have the best record as a sports team owner.

2. Wait 2 years to get an owner who is guaranteed to invest in and revamp the team.

Vote.

I will wait 2 years.

Jorge Bonifacio stands a good shot at earning a spot in the Tigers? corner outfield mix. Bonifacio, who?ll be in camp on a minor-league deal, has struggled in recent seasons with the division-rival Royals. That said, he?s still just 26 years old and showed some promise in an extended run in 2017 with Kansas City.

LOL .. a rather ridiculous questionnaire becasue:
First, assumes that Chris I will be selling.
Second, nobody knows what will happen in 2 years.

The 100% true facts are that the Detroit Tigers have excellent prospects right now, and that will continue to improve this year and next.
With this understanding, ..there is probably not any potential owner alive who can hasten this rebuild any quicker than Chris Ilitch and Al Avila can.

I hope he doesn't come to spring training as heavy as his bio shows. Otherwise, forget about him!

Al Avila is that you??

They don?t have any position players in the pipeline who are major league ready.
If they drafted smarter the past several drafts, they would.

Round 1 is easy to draft a talented player, rounds 2 through 10/15 they don?t.
Avila and his lackeys couldn?t shoot a fish in a barrel.

Al the only expectation this year will be to see Miggy climb the all time boards and stay healthy. Make sure he gets into good shape will ya. thanks.

I prefer to think that Miggy is going to pleasantly surprise Tiger fans this year!
