Tigers FO thread, Scott Harris Pres. of Baseball Ops,Tigers Hire Jeff Greenberg GM

Like you know how they feel. Maybe it would have been awkward? I'm sure that the "real kids" as you put it and the Florida kids don't have anything to do with each other.

Edit:
Under the final judgment, which should wrap up the contentious case, here?s what the judge ordered Cabrera to do:

  • Pay Rodriguez $20,000 a month in unallocated child support, which means the mom can spend it as she sees fit.
  • In addition to the $20,000-a-month, pay allocated child support to Rodriguez for specific expenditures, such as private schooling, health care, extracurricular activities and prescriptions. When these expenses occur, the mom will send a bill to Cabrera for reimbursement.
  • Pay off the mortgage of Rodriguez?s nearly $1 million house by July 1.
  • Provide the children unblocked, annual passes to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and Orlando Science Center.
  • Maintain a $5 million life insurance policy to benefit both children until the youngest child turns 18.
  • Pay Rodriguez $89,581 in unpaid child support by May 1.
  • Pay Rodriguez?s attorney fees of $51,206.
That doesn't sound like like the other woman and Miggy have a good relationship now. No doubt the children aren't part of his life. Unfortunate on many accounts but my guess is when they relationship ended those children were probably too young to even know who Miggy was at the time.

and he's the Tigers nomination for the Roberto Clemente man of the year :lmao:

Why don't you stop acting like a god damned troll. He is retired, leave him the F alone and look forward to what the team will look like in the next two years.

I should be free to have my own opinion about the man. I am not being disrespectful to any poster.

I am looking forward to what the team will look like in the next 2-5 years.

Days of Roar Tigers Podcast: Recapping Miguel Cabrera's last game and the end of year press conferences. 62 minutes.

On this episode: This week, Mark and Evan go over the movie-esque conclusion to Miguel Cabrera's professional playing career. Later, the guys review what was learned from the end-of-year press conference held by Detroit Tigers' management. With the 2023 regular season now over, the guys also start looking fully towards next year and what lingering questions remain on the roster. Will we see Austin Meadows or Spencer Turnbull return? Will E-Rod opt out? Has Carson Kelly secured his backup catcher role? Mark and Evan parse the tea leaves to game out these answers and more.

I just don't understand how a Detroit Tigers fan can be happy with him over the past 7 seasons. Other people here can bash Al Avila, Chris Illich, any and every other player, but when it comes to me having some harsh opinions about Cabrera, it's considered trolling or shitting on him? Most of the time I am not just posting my opinion, but I have facts to back them up. A lot of my frustration isn't even with him but with Mr I for signing him to that stupid contract to begin with.

Its worth it after all the earlier years he gave us. You know the way sports work, players get paid based on what they've done not what they're about to do.

that's true for a younger player or a player that hasn't got paid yet. But the Tigers already gave him a big payday (8 years, $152M in 2008).

It happens all the time. It'll keep on happening too. Lots of 32 years will get long contracts. Pujols was given a big long contract by the Angels at the same age.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers finished the 2023 season with 78 wins and 84 losses. They were 9 games out of 1st place, finishing in 2nd place.

However, they were also under .500 with a .481 win/loss record.

In the AL, they were the 9th best team out of 15. Overall, they were the 19th best team in all of MLB.

They won 12 more games this year than in 2022. They also lost 12 fewer games. For the month of September, they played over .500 baseball.

This was the Tigers best year since 2016 in terms of wins and losses. In the standings, this year?s finish in the standings was also the best since 2016.

In a recent Totally Tigers poll, 77% of fans believed the Tigers were a better team.

In another poll, 48% of readers believed the Tigers would finish with 85-90 losses.
In second place, 27% of fans thought the team would lose 91-95 losses.

Only 16% of fans thought the team would finish where they did. A full 75% believed the team would have a worse record at the end of this year.
So how do you feel about the Tigers? record now that the year is over? Which one of these opinions describes your feelings best?

How do you feel about the Tigers' record now that the year is over?

1. Not surprised that they performed better.

2. Very surprised that they played better this year.

3. Somewhat disappointed with the results.

I still had to vote #3, somewhat disappointed. I think the main reason that they had the record that they did was because they feasted on the worst division in baseball. The team still had the 3rd worst offense in the league and in terms of run differential, they were 22nd. I'm glad that they had a better record but I don't think they did enough given the shit division that they play in. They still have a lot of work to do.
