Ron just got in his car and turned the radio on right when Prince hit his homer!!!! He says hi to everyone and thanks for posting the line-up!!!!
You boys can thank me now or thank me later. My Tigers psychic/psycho vibes worked.
Got in the car for the drive home, XM radio with Dan and Jim, Dirks walks and Fielder goes yard.
Great win with Cabrera out, Scherzer with another dominating start,
Tigers win 5 - 2,
Scherzer wins his 14th,
TigersVictoryCigar.
Scherzer's final line: 7IP, 1ER on 4H, 2BB/9K...
last 14GS: 9-2, 2.88ERA, 30BB/115K in 90IP....has lowered ERA from 5.88 to 4.13...
Max rolled to the finish, retiring 17 of final 18 batters, 8 on Ks.
Scherzer is 4-0 with 2.25 ERA in August.
Scherzer's 9 K's gave him a new Tigers record of striking out at least 8 in 8 consecutive games, breaking Hall of Famer Hal Newhouser's record.
Tigers wrap up impressive 6-3 homestand with 5-2 win over the Angels. Off day tomorrow, then in KC for 3 starting Tuesday.
Tigers climb 11G over .500 for first time this year, beat Angels, 5-2. Scherzer superb again.
Papa Grande's ERA in non-saves is now over 4.00 - it's an even 3.00 in save situations.
Scherzer has struck out at least eight in eight consecutive starts. He is the first Tigers pitcher to do that since at least 1918. He also turned in his 11th start with at least nine strikeouts. That's the most games with at least nine strikeouts since Mickey Lolich had 15 of those games during the 1971 season.
As for Delmon;
Young is batting .313 (21-for-67) over his last 17 games, he hasn't shown much statistical power, with six doubles and a lone home run during that time. In terms of contact, though, he's connecting solidly on a more consistent basis than earlier in the year, and he's striking out at a lower rate. He has had back-to-back games with multiple extra base hits...had one game previously w/ multiple XB hits thru 114G.
Tigers official site
Dirks finished 2-3 + walk, RBI, scored 2R.
Since coming off DL, he's hitting .353 (68AB) with HR and 9RBI, 9BB/11K.
Post game Cabrera: I feel better. Hopefully feel well in Kansas City and play in the field.
Tigers pitching is leading way right now - team scored just 34R in 9G on homestand, but finished 6-3...team ERA is 2.23 last 11G.
Tigers now head to KC for three, before coming home for 6G w/ Chicago and Cleveland...
Tigers 7-1 vs. KC, but 6 of 8G decided by 2R or fewer.
Matchups for KC (all night games): Verlander vs. Mendoza (7-9, 4.26ERA), Sanchez v. Chen (9-10, 5.41) and Porcello v. Guthrie (2-3, 4.32).
