Tigers vs. a's ALDS Game Thread 5 Oct. 11

Even with that performance, I would rather have him at SS instead of Jhonny next year. I know it is unlikely to happen but a boy can dream can he?

If this year is any indication we'll bitch at him for similar reasons, shitty BA and lots of SO.

But he won't be a liability on defense. He would actually be an asset. Like we have said this year, give us offense or defense at SS.

Starting pitching is the reason the Tigers made the playoffs and the reason they made it through the first round. The quartet of Verlander, Doug Fister, Anibal Sanchez and Max Scherzer posted a combined ERA of 1.30 and 41/10 strikeout/walk ratio in 34 2/3 innings in the five-game series.

those are some dominating numbers.

If it was 2010 I think most would rather have Drew but post injury his numbers have been pretty bad.

He's far more of a crapshoot than bringing JP back. Peralta is at least sure handed and rated out as a better defender than drew this season along with being pretty durable and hits with a little more power.

now if the Tigers could get Drew on a two year six million dollar kind of contract that would present upside. Idk what his value will be on the open market.

Okay, how about decent at both. And why can't I be greedy?

I would love to have decent at both but it is just not available.

You are a Tigers fan, not a greedy Yankee or Red Sox fan. I would love to be in the position to be greedy but we haven't won it all since 1984.

So a perfect game could theoretically get only an 87? That's pretty strange...

50 points to start.
27 outs = 27 points. (77)
5 innings past the 4th = 10 points. (87)
27 K's = 27 points. (114)

My math says 114.

Now you are just being greedy. No one on the free agent market at SS has both.

Not at the FA market...but there are rumors Texas may try to trade Elvis Andrus. Profar looks like he might be the SS of the future, and Andrus would give them a nice trade piece.

I don't know that we have enough to land him though, without throwing in Castellanos, and probably someone like Al Al or Porcello.

geeebus I hope they aren't still hung over!

Actually that other series is going 5 to, they'll still be more hung over than us! that'll work.

They were pouring Fres all over each other. Its non-alcoholic sparkling wine.
