Tigers - a's Game Preview.
from blessyouboystigersblog
The past two days, the Detroit Tigers have cooled off the hottest team in baseball. This afternoon, they will try to sweep it.
Anibal Sanchez (3-5, 4.19 ERA with the Tigers) will be on the mound for the Tigers today as they try to win the final game of a three-game series against the Oakland A's, who are 22-9 in their past 31 games even after dropping the first two games of the series against the Tigers.
Sanchez has never faced the A's and has squared off with just a handful of their hitters. Left fielder Seth Smith is 5-for-11 with a home run in his career against Sanchez.
Left-hander Tommy Milone (13-10, 3.81 ERA) will start for the A's. Milone allowed two runs -- one earned -- in seven innings in his only career start against the Tigers. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out six May 11 in an 11-4 victory over the Tigers in Oakland.
With a left-hander on the mound for the A's, Avisail Garcia will start in right field for the second consecutive day. Gerald Laird will catch in place of Alex Avila.
The Tigers pulled within two games of the division-leading Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night and will try to close the gap further today.
Tigers fans won't have to watch the out-of-town scoreboard during the game this afternoon. The Tigers and A's play at 1:05 p.m. The White Sox play the Kansas City Royals at 8:10 p.m.

Leyland said he'd not use Benoit today, like to stay away from Coke, Villarreal as well as Smyly for obvious reasons.
Leyland said Avila's headaches are gone. Said Scherzer's not doing anything for a couple days, so they won't know anymore for a while.
and I have to go take a huge Murray and wipe my ugg boots.
