did I happen to mention in years past, that Jackson can't come in on balls and has a hard time judging them.
You'd be wrong.

not a chance, someone remembers me mentioning it. I always said he's great going back on a ball, but coming in on one is something else.
Berry was bad but it's not just him. Our whole OF with the exception of Ajax are bench players. None of Berry, Dirks, or Garcia are starting quality outfielders in a World Series.
Add to the fact Avila/Laird, Fielder, Cabrera, Young and Peralta [over 50% of our lineup] are incredibly slow and bad baserunners.
Because we lack speed and dynamics, we lack energy. So we go up to the plate thinking "If I can just hit a home run", instead of looking for a pitch they can drive or go opposite field, and then wind up swinging and missing at slow breaking balls, or fastballs a bat-and-half length away.
Our pitchers have their game faces on, and are busting their asses. But it's all for naught because our hitters refuse to adjust.
I'm not a fire Leyland guy, and it's hard to fire a guy who takes you to 3 ALCS and 2 WS in 7 years, turning around a perennial loser, but maybe he should be let go for the fact that he's staffed the Tigers with terrible coaches. Lamont admits to not knowing what the right call is at times, Lloyd has had the worst group of hack-at-a-ball-in-the-dirt guys I have ever seen on 1 team, and never made a single adjustment to any of them. Jeff Jones has about the same qualifications as a pitching coach, as I do as a thoracic surgeon.
2013 needs to change, no more hand me down players, no more unprepared rookies rushed up, no more sticking with a guy out of loyalty just because he's your closer, or 5th hitter, or buddies from the days in Pittsburgh.
Every Tiger from this season who is on the team in 2013 needs to play all 162 games with one goal, one single narrow point of focus: redeeming themselves from one of the biggest embarrassments in professional sports.
/end rant [for now]

Fuck me running....I agree with this too!!Actually he's right. Somewhat.
Jackson's weakness is coming in on fly balls, Ajax can go back on a ball towards the track and make plays that cover twice the distance of balls that are hit in front of him.
I don't know that I would say he has trouble judging them, just that I think he's super cautious about letting a ball get past him.
Defensively Jackson is the best CF'er in baseball, while playing in the biggest CF. But he absolutely has trouble with balls hit more then 20 feet in front of him.
Lots of teams have, starting with the '69 Mets, when the LCS was initiated. The '70 Orioles, '79 Pirates and '84 Tigers as well. The Braves did it in '95 after the format went to seven games.
But more could be found with some research.
