Tigers vs. indians Game Thread August 21

[quote="KalineCountry":mjjbwgta]Cabrera taking 3 and 0, and walks,

so that's what I missed last inning, Porcello threw behind acabrera,
anything precipitate that? or just a pitch that got away from him?

Well he hit a homerun distance foul just before, but seemed like he was just trying to come inside hard.

Every pitch after that and after the warnings issued was still inside, and got his GB out.[/quote:mjjbwgta]

Thanks MiThumb, He was pitching inside previous inning before I had to answer the door, so maybe just a fast warning by the ump.
now from what Rod and Mario are saying jimenez isn't coming inside this inning since the warnings,

Man this inning is great, 7 - 0 and Peralta with a double, keep the foot on the throat of the indians,
Betemit walks,
Santiago

jimenez with over 40 pitches, maybe 48 total this inning, and 74 total,

Tigers lead 7 - 0.

I don't disagree with that at all....I'm guessing they've found in side sessions Rick can't throw that hard and get enough movement out of it....I'm sure he was more than capable of throwing 95 with location versus HS hitters but they quickly found his stuff wasn't good enough at that speed. At no point in the majors was rick regularly throwing 94 mph. Obviously they ironed that out pretty early. You could argue with more tinkering in the minors he could've added a few mph with movement I guess.
That's exactly my point and how pitchers usually develop.. But it actually speaks volumes that he was so talented, he was able to move up with limited development so rapidly.. He got promoted while never reaching his level of potential.. I think if they were more patient, we would see a polished Bondo or even another Scherzer..

This is huge. Well, it actually started last night when the offense taxed their bullpen. They've got 4 games in the next 3 days too.

damn the rest of their august schedule could not be easier....10 games at home...mariners, royals, a's.

good thing for this series.

I'm not saying he's Verlander #2, but when a H.S pitcher is highly regarded, you don't expect them to get by on a 89-92 mph fastball.. People thought his potential would be reached around 92-94 mph..

I agree with that. i think he was drafted with the thought that he would fill out a little and add a couple mph.
Bingo.. Then again I guess with him currently, he could still be a very good pitcher.. Greg Maddux lived off a high 80s low 90s fastball and he is a top 10 all time pitcher.. Although his movement and location were all world..

It's amazing how they let Ubaldo finish the inning.. He probably goes back in the 4th?

what ever happened to adam everett was he in the trade for JP? I thought he was playing decently for the tribe?

What'd he throw that inning? 45 pitches? That's sick

No, I think we released Everett, and the Indians signed him in the off season as a FA.

What's amazing is that Santana has played pretty much every game, whether it's 1st base or catcher.. Hasn't had a rest like most catchers..
