Tigers vs. indians Game Thread Sept. 3

Miguel Cabrera has posted a .485 on-base percentage in 21 games since August 10.

Delmon went with the outside corner pitch to right instead of trying to pull it,

And Fucking BB swings at the first pitch!!!!!! Just freaking ridiculous..... It really is bad baseball by a young player like BB..

That's Delmon Young's 2nd RBI on a full count this year (4-for-22). He has 13 on the first pitch.

Delmon Young now has an RBI in seven of his last nine games -- hitting .452 (14x31) with 12 RBI during that stretch.

Why is swinging at the first pitch bad? Sometimes the best pitch you'll see is the first pitch. Josh Hamilton swings at the first pitch more than anyone. Seems to work well for him.

It seems like we can never hit a fly ball to the outfield with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs. It's always a ground ball or an infield pop up.

Boesch is now 1-for-10 with the bases loaded, two GIDPs, including that inning-ender.

It's not always bad. It was a strike but a strike on the outside corner. If I'm BB and I just see him go 3-0 against DY, then I most likely take a pitch until I get a called strike against me. I would have attempted to wait for a better pitch.

I just disagree unless you a player like Hamilton, Miguel, Prince or other stars.. It is not like BB is a star. And I have been consistent with my thoughts on swing on the first pitch. .. He is a fringe .250 hitter player who can get hot every now and then.. You have a young pitcher with the bases loaded and 1 out... Make him work for it and don't make it easy... I just disagree depending on the player...

Correction: I was wrong, he went 2-0 and then 2-1 against DY.

It really is maddening how bad we are with the sacks full this year..

Also i think as a manager why not make BB take on the first pitch.. You drive the pitch total up and you give a young player like BB a chance to see a pitch... Now you would never do it with a vetern but with a young player like BB.. Make him take...

Tigers have a 198 BA with bases loaded. Lowest in the AL.

A manager shouldn't micro manage a player in the batters box. What if the pitch is down the middle and you told your hitter to take?
