Except Cruz has the best arm in the game, and Miggy was out by a country mile.. Not to mention he had an awful jump as well.. Even if off the line the play would have been close and possibly and out.. Sorry, but you are wrong.. It was a fucking horrible move..

So its the coaches fault cabby got a bad jump...makes sense.
Miggy is not a baserunner.. The coaches should know this.. Jackson would have possibly been out let alone fatass.. Get over it, it was a dumbfuck move..

Cabrera was out by 15 feet. The jump is inconsequential. It was a bonehead play to send Cabrera in that situation. It is akin to sending Frank Howard on a similar fly ball hit to Al Kaline.

Just answer this, do you honestly think this board would not be complaining if they didn't send him? Would they be praising leyland and lamont.

This board just likes to bitch about anything and everything.

You have guys on here talking about how our management is to stupid to get rid of players like Jackson and Young.

Who gives a shit about the board.. Most sensible fans recognize it was a stupid fucking move.. THe point is that 3rd base coaches shouldn't even be known.. If they are, usually they are fucking terrible... It's the same with refs and umps as well, most people recognize the bad ones from bad calls.. Your analogy is fucking terrible btw..

I decided to stay for the whole game at cigar night and left at the end. So very disappointing. I read the game thread, and agree that alot of the coaching and managing decisions late in the game were bad.
This team is down a couple of players already and three more banged up and hurting are playing.
They still have JV, Max, and Fister, but you got to score runs to win.
Advance scouting dept has failed this series imo, lamont blows dead goats, Leyland still finds ways to fuck things up as much as he does good things.
All the guys at cigar night think that Joe Suck and Tim McCocksucker are the two biggest pieces of shit all time for bias broadcasting. They hate them and foxsports as much as we do.
I'm very bummed out and pissed.

Tigers sure have to make out like '68, they definitely have the pitching, but not enough hitting or coaching, IMO.

That was a 250-foot popup that Cruz, who has the best arm in baseball, who got behind the ball perfectly at the correct angle to launch all his momentum to the plate, with one of the slowest runners in the league on third. 19 times out of 20 Cabrera is thrown out by a wide margin in that circumstance.

As to the answer to your question, Cruz makes that throw whether Cabrera is going or not, and it would have been abundantly clear that he would have been dead meat at home and people would have supported Lamont's decision to hold him at third. This is kind of self-evident if you think it through, you know?

We're debating sending Cabby home, but someone please defend walking Beltre.

Beltre was hurt and hadn't hit a ball out of the infield. Napoli was the hero all night long, do you really want to pitch to him? This all but assured Cruz would come up. Also something no one is talking about, you don't put Beltre on because now if Valverde walks or hits Napoli the bases are loaded with 1 out and a fly ball wins it. It's indefensible and as soon as I saw they were doing it I posted that it's bad on this thread.

Does using the word fucking make your point more believable?

So you want to hold the runner to bring up a guy in Avila that is hitting .059 in the playoffs

Even if Cabby only scores 1 out of 10 times on that play. .1 is still a lot better chance then .059

I'm so bummed out. Was seething angry for about 20 minutes, now I'm just sad. This sucks. Ruined my week.

He's trying to make the point that 3rd base coaches get ripped when they do something but get no praise when they make the right decision.. The point being is that it's there job to make the right decision whether a fan gives praise or not.. If they are well known, it's usually because they suck..

MOre like 1 out of 30 that Miggy scores... Look at the RFer.. Look at his positioning.. Look at Miggy.. Seriously why don't you reevaluate it and run it back in your head.. I don't know what else to tell you.. Defending this is ludicrous..

.033 isn't a lot different then .059. To me that is still the best chance to score there. Our bats have been horrible, what in the world makes you think Avila would of came up with a clutch hit?

The only thing i could see debating, is pinch running for cabby. On one hand you take out your best hitter, but it is the 8th inning, might be worth it.

There was no logical reason to give Beltre a free pass and clog the basepaths with baserunners and face the two best hitter in the lineup at the present time. Just like there is no logical reason to like an M-100 and hold it in your palm.

You either run your worst runner or hit your worst hitter, those are your choices, it's lose lose for any manager

I take my chances with Avila over testing Cruz's arm with arguably your slowest runner on a mid popup fly.. Avila could break out of his slump anytime.. Seriously this is common sense.. No idiot would pinch run Miggy your best hitter btw...

And even then I don't think anyone on the team would have scored on that situations.. Seriously your whole logic is flawed..

As sad as I am we could not tie the series up, I'm still looking at this season as glass half full, even if we lose tomorrow.

We won the Central for the first time ever, and made it to the ALDS...WITH AN INCOMPLETE TEAM!

People tend to forget that while we have the best SP, Hitter, and closer in the game on our team, the team is still very much full of holes.

Second base, Third Base, Leadoff hitter, and middle relief, and we still finished with the 6th best record in all of baseball.

There's an old saying: You can't win 'em all", but we still won a lot of 'em.

But money coming off the books, trade deadline pickup of Fister was huge, not just for this year, 2012 we will have 4 legitimate top end rotation guys., and Illitch says he will spring for a couple "impact" players.

I want to win and go on as much as anyone else here, but at some point you had to realize the holes on this team were going to catch up with us sooner or later.

We're going to be better next year.

While things look positive for the forseeable future, anything can happen in a baseball season.. I'm sure the Reds and Padres said the same thing last year.. Along with the Giants..
