Tigers vs. redsox Game Thread May 29

I hope that isn't it, but if so, that would be a blow to the team, Laird would have to start in his place, and Santos, or Brantley...maybe later would be brought up as the backup. yuck.

As of right now Leyland is 1611-1610 as a manager in 21 season.. Need a comeback so he can stay above .500...

verlander:

1) average against teams that are better than .500
2) horrible in post season
3) night game stats = average
4) when he team scores less than 2 runs = almost guaranteed loss
5) april & march = sucks

he can have his ace tag but there is a reason i waited a whole season to allow all you folks to have it.

But you take away playing pitts, kc and baltimore, three of the worst teams in the history of verlanders playing days, and his stats are far worse.

lmfao!!! Go away, you fn nutjob....you're pathetic.

Tigers lose 6-3, 49 games in 3 under .500, closer to 4th than 1st. Tigers are a very bad baseball team, horrible. So called high powered offense can barley score 3-4 per game on a good night. pathetic. Absolutely horrible.

Did some other poster suggest this was HOF worthy here tonight? lol

Yup he did without looking at the stats... But if he can somehow motivate this team and win a WS he may get there because of titles in both leagues...

This game was a microcosm of the whole season..they have some pretty good hitters who can get hits when nobody is on base but when it comes to needing a clutch hit, they fail every time.

They have good pitchers who get outs plenty of times, but when it comes to clutch moments when they need to get out of an inning, they fail.

They have a few good relievers who have great stuff and strike out a bunch of batters, but when they need to shut down the opposition to keep the game close, they fail.

This team is so anti-clutch it is unbelievable. I don't know what it's going to take to turn it around but something's gotta happen soon.

Something is wrong with this team, but I'll give you hint...it's not that they are anti-clutch.

guess what i just found in the mlive comments section?

"Once again...Verlander struggles against a top tier team(although the record doesn't show). Bringing another one of his records against contending teams to .500, it's ok though, as long as he keeps up his dominant record against KC, Baltimore, and the NL losers...he'll be sure to lead us to a World Series title."

sounds awfully similar to something i read in this thread earlier...

Idiots, bro.

Didn't Verlander dominate the Red Sox at the beginning of the year? Yeah, that's what i thought.

i was more getting at that i think it might have been chica, which makes a shit-ton of sense. being an mlive commenter generally requires that you have no brain, and he certainly qualifies.

Oh ya...for sure. I knew what you were getting at.

He leads the idiot train all the way. It's his thing.........

JV is above .500 against...

The Red Sox.....3-2
The Yankees.....4-3
The Rangers.....7-2
The Devil Rays.....6-2
The Indians.....13-12
The Twins.....10-7
The White Sox.....12-10

Together....that is 55-38...or a .591 win percentage. To put that in perspective....if JV were to face ONLY those teams for a 162 game season....he would go 96-66.

Actually.....JV is at or above .500 against EVERY TEAM IN BASEBALL.

So.....um.....yeah. Sounds just like a Chica argument.

Great find, booger.

Can't wait for Chico's retort. Will there be one?
