Tigers vs. redsox Game Thread May 31

Quintin Berry has 3 Hits tonight, giving him 13 in first 9 Games. 13 Hits are tied for 5th most by Tigers player in first 9 career games since at least 1918.

It was mostly a thought to see if he was capable of doing it. Plus if he did get caught we would have Cabby leading off the 8th.

And Cabrera is not who you want leading off an inning.

Not to the point you risk taking away a chance with a man in scoring position.

Are we going to score more than the standard 4 limit tonight I do hope. Was listing to the game on the radio earlier driving home and had to laugh at the comments one of them not sure if it was price or Dickerson about young swinging at the first pitch. LOL> I had to bust out laughing I mean moley crap people we all see it, the announcers see it but yet there is his hacking away AB after AB after AB.

You think the opposition teams pitchers don't know this either, you think there is any reason to give this guy anything good to hit knowing this? Can some of these coaches please sit this guy down and go over this with him.

Why not? He is one of the best hitters in the majors. He is in scoring position standing in the batters box or he is ca[able of dropping a single in front of the center fielder. IMO I don't think he is bad leading off an inning.

4 k's yesterday though and his swing is gaawd awful, not sure how he hits anything with that swing. But yes, great asset when he gets on base and great glove, no doubts about that.

It ain't gotta be pretty if it works.

You can't teach patience.

You can sit him down all you want, but he's one of those guys who swings on instinct, and thinks nothing of the count or situation.

That's just who Delmon is, and it's also why he is a bust as a #1 overall pick.

Well then if that's the deal then I don't see any value.. I guess that good post season he had turned out bad for us in the end, that made us keep him when we probably shouldn't have. Is he one of those guys that only preforms well when he feels he must perhaps? Hahahahah He just hit a HR, solo of course, that figures. was it the first pitch?

I'm explaing this for my own benefit, because I don;t think you'll get it.

Cabrera drives in runs, you don't take away the opportunity just to see if a guy can steal 3rd. It's stupid.

And you don't want Cabrera leading off if possible because you want men on base for him whenever possible, that should be obvious.

2nd pitch.

And I don't think the playoffs is why DD offered him, but because we had no other real options. This was before we knew what we know about Dirks now.
