THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers
The Saturday Survey offers readers the opportunity to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our baseball-lovin? peeps.
Today, we center the discussion on how you interpret the results of the Tigers? 58-game season.
As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons (4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!
The 2020 baseball year saw a 60-game season with the Tigers actually playing only 58 of those games. They ended the year with a 23-35 record, earning them last place in the AL Central and 12 games out of first place. In a full season, this would be the equivalent of a 64-98 season.
However, this projected record doesn?t necessarily take into account the numerous injuries that happened to their top offensive players in August.
They were hurt in what was essentially the second month of a regular 6-month season. How would the rest of the year have played out performance-wise given this?
On the other hand, several players had what appears to be break-out years. Another one has inserted himself into the Rookie of the Year chatter. And there are now several positions that appear to be filled moving forward ? unlike last year. And the Tigers have promoted a number of prospects to Detroit.
So how did you see this season? Was it a better year for Detroit? Is the team stuck? Have they regressed? Or is 58 games simply too small of a sample size?
You tell us!
Compared to the 2019 season, in 2020, the Detroit Tigers are?.
1. Visibly improved.
2. Looking promising.
3. Looking the same.
4. Worse.
5. Season too short to tell.
6. Not sure.
